Chicago rally in support of Denmark at noon today
Crossposted on Marathon Pundit.
Hat tip to Justin of the Chicago Protest Warriors.
From Winds of Change:
"Solidarity with Denmark, Death to Fascism" were the words leader Christopher Hitchens closed his speech and rally with in Washington DC in front of the Danish Embassy. If you favor Free Speech, show your support by rallying in solidarity with Denmark in front of the Danish Consulate in Chicago on March 14th at noon. . . . Please be outside the Consulate of Denmark, 211 EAST ONTARIO ST. (by St. Clair St.), between noon and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 14. Quietness and calm are the necessities, plus cheerful conversation. Danish flags are good, or posters reading "Stand By Denmark" and any variation on this theme . . .

I plan on being there. With Camera...
Way to be out ahead of this pressing issue from a month ago.
The protest "warriors" might just be the saddest bunch of tools ever to make use of the First Amendment. Though certainly dealing in last week's news, they're right in spirit on this one (even a blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time).
Nevertheless, I've little doubt the "warriors" will find some way to disengenuously insinuate Democrats/Liberals are opposed to the Danes' free speech and in bed with the "Islamofacists." In fact, I guarantee it.
And shouldn't anyone calling themselves a "warrior" be getting fitted up at the local recruiting office anyway?
They should call themselves the Drugstore Cowboys.
Uh, I'm just giving credit to the guy who tipped me off on this story. If you went to click-thru on the post, you would've seen that this is not a Protest Warrior event.
It's great to see a hat-tip to Chicago chapter of Protest Warrior.

Well, the extremists who are burning Western flags and shouting “death to the infadels” haven’t stopped demonstrating, despite the fact that, due to our media’s short attention span, you don’t see them on TV anymore.
It’s a shame that the issue isn’t cutting edge enough to draw your attention any longer. Because it deserves it.
I've gotten some tips on Wal-Mart from Edelman PR, but that's another story....
I’m sorry, but I question whether this protest is simply about supporting “free speech” and demonstrating “solidarity” with Denmark. To a large extent, the cartoons in question were published to provoke an outcry, particularly from the orthodox Muslim community. Unfortunately, they created an international crisis. Now they are being exploited by extremist groups on all sides to further their own interests. It's time to find a way to communicate, not divide.
Hitchens's article in Slate was the start of it all.
