Long haired preachers come out every night

Try to tell you what's wrong and what's right;

So how does a guy who directs a Center for Applied Christian Ethics and wants to represent Illinois's 6th District in Washington avoid speaking out, when his Party's probable top-of-the-ticket slams the door on these statements,

"These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength…It's the wicked Jews the false Jews that are promoting Lesbianism, homosexuality. It's wicked Jews, false Jews that make it a crime for you to preach the word of God, then they call you homophobic!"
and this,
"And the Christian right, with your blindness to that wicked state of Israel…can that be the holy land, and you have gay parades, and want to permit to have a gay parade in Jerusalem when no prophet ever sanctioned that behavior. HOW CAN THAT BE THE ISRAEL, how can that be Jerusalem with secular people running the holy land when it should be the holy people running the holy land. That land is gonna be cleansed with BLOOD!"
or this,
"Is Jerusalem surrounded by armies now? These neo-cons and Zionists have manipulated Bush and the American government and our boys and girls are dying in Iraq and in Afghanistan for the cause of Israel, not for the cause of America! Israel is the tail waggin' the dog, which is America. You may not like me, and I really don't give a damn. I'm throwin' the gauntlet down today.
or
"I'm warning you America. You better get rid of them neo-cons. That's the synagogue of Satan. They have made America weak. You're a weak nation now, and your country has been taken from you by the synagogue of Satan. They own congress. That's why the congress ain't right."
Tell us preacher what's wrong and what's right. The gauntlet's been thrown; which side are you on?

And it's worth reading the testimony of Richard Ledeen today before Henry Hyde, the man whom Scott would replace, on how the United States should support a Worker's Revoution in Iran under the Iran Freedom Support Act,

We also need to provide them with the wherewithal for two vitally important revolutionary actions: build resources for a strike fund, and get them modern instruments of communication. The strike fund speaks for itself: workers need to be able to walk off the job, above all the oil fields and the textile and transportation sectors, and know they will be able to feed their families for several weeks.

The instruments of communication include servers, laptops, satellite and cell phones and phone cards. The regime has been more effective in identifying and repressing nation-wide communications among dissidents. They have been less effective quashing local networks. We should accordingly provide the local networks advanced technology in order for them to better communicate between cities and regions.

I hate when people used the term "false jews". I much prefer the term "dirty jews".

Those who follow and promote the teachings of Islam, as proclaimed in the Qur'an, have been making similar statements for well over 1000 years. To the extent that the NOI follows these teachings of Islam, it expresses the anti-Jewish, Anti-Christian message of the Qur'an that is at the core of Islam. e.g Qur'an 5:51: "Take not Jews and Christians as your friends and prtotectors..."

They may not be false Jews BUT
#1 Jews do control Hollywood
and
#2 Hollywood does promote homosexuality

It is nice when some people like to isolate individual quotes without taking the time to read furter so they might get some concept of context.

You should read on further in the sura where it discusses why they shouldn't have Jews and Christians as friends because they do not live a 'sinless life'. It also discusses that both are brethren in worshipping the same deity and all will be accepted when they follow the 'true path'

Of course that is so different from Christians who never seek to condemn anyone for not following the 'true path' they do. Oh wait, I am not baptized so of course to some Christians I won't get eternal bliss.

Let's have a history test: True or False, Christian nations have always been open and accepting of other religions. They never forcefully tried to convert anyone. They never tortured and killed those who believed in another choice.

Be honest. NOI is as much about true Islam as Phelp's Kansas church is about true Christianity.

Before it comes up, I am Christian and I think they need to chuck the NOI rep off the committee.

Before it comes up, I am Christian and I think they need to chuck the NOI rep off the committee.

I'm not a Christian.

But agree Gish, on the need to chuck.

For both our God's sake though, why is it so hard for Democrats to speak out?

And of all people, a fellow who Chairs a Christian Ethics Program at the Evangelical's Vatican can't speak out?

Especially when the History of Christians towards Jews in the past century not a proud one.

It was many of the mainline Christian Churches in America who opposed FDR and involvment in World War II... Rumsfeld told Russert on Meet The Press when he agreed with Pope Paul's grave responsiblity before, God, conscience and history when it comes to war,

In every war, there have been protestors. The American Firsters filled Madison Square Garden repeatedly with thousands of people before World War II while Europe was in flames, while millions of Jews were being killed, and the chant was, "Don't get involved in a war in Europe." It's a natural human reaction for people to want to avoid war.

The Editors over at Christian Century went cruel pacifist while Europe destroyed itself.

This poor, sorry man in comfortable Wheaton together --with most Illinois Democrats save Pat Quinn-- will have to face God, conscience, and history not for a failure night to fight a war; but for simply speaking out against a great obscenity with no sacriface asked from them.

What cowards they are... their natural human reaction not a proud one.

I know Kerry supported the war. As did Biden (A guy I admired once).

Whether Bush, and especially his second inaugral, are empty rhetoric History will tell.

I'm sticking with Rumsfeld on the troops issue. That was a plan and it was based on Vietnam experience.

He laid it out again in the Q and A after his recent speech at the Truman Library,

But the difficulty we face and the tension that exists is the following. On the one hand you want to have enough forces so the security environment is sufficiently permissive that the Iraqi or the Afghan people can develop a political system, vote on a constitution which they did, elect their people and be willing to go to the polls and risk the intimidation and the threats that they received, start their economy going, and yet you don't want too many people there that you look like an occupying force, that the insurgents and the terrorists are able to lie to people and say you're only there for their oil, you're there to occupy the country, you intend to stay there permanently, all of which is false. But it feeds the insurgency to the extent you have so many people there that they begin to wonder if you plan to stay and occupy their country. No one wants an occupying force in their country over a long period of time.

The second problem if you have too many people is that Americans are terrific. If there's a ditch to be dug, they go dig it, and they dig the best dad-burned ditch you'll ever see. If someone needs a generator in a hospital, by golly they go find a generator and stick it in the hospital. And if they're walking down the street and there's a security problem and they're with some Iraqi security forces, their inclination is to take care of it themselves.

That's a wonderful quality and attribute on the part of Americans, but the fact of the matter is, you know, I suppose many of you have youngsters and you taught them how to ride a bike, and you run down the street holding onto the back seat and you've got your whole hand on it, you don't want them to fall. Then you go to four fingers, then you go to three fingers, then you go to two fingers, and you know if you let go of that last finger they might fall and skin their knee, and you also know if you don't you could have a 40 year old who doesn't know how to ride a bike. You do not want a 40 year old who can't ride a bike. [Laughter]. And by golly, we have to keep avoiding filling every vacuum. And if we're around that place with too many people we tend to fill every vacuum. That's not a healthy thing.

So that's that dilemma that exists.
