A good story about an Illinois hero to offset the despair about this,

For a second straight day Tuesday, the governor fled questions about the commission.

In Downstate Effingham, when asked about Muhammad's statement that Farrakhan's remarks were merely ''perceived'' as anti-Semitic, the governor shut the door of his SUV and drove off.

On Monday, as the story began attracting attention across the country, Blagojevich declined to say whether he had spoken to Muhammad after Farrakhan's speech. He also would not answer whether his continued backing of her is tied to concerns over alienating African-American voters, who are vital to his winning re-election.

If that's what he's thinking, it's an appalling statement about how Blagojevich feels about African American voters.

Per Rich Miller and the Bellevue Times, Pat Quinn isn't disgracing the state,

Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn, however, called on Muhammad to leave the commission.

"I think she should resign, and if she doesn't resign the panel ought to be disbanded," Quinn said Tuesday night. "The purpose of the commission is to bring people together and it's clearly not serving its purpose
