Gravesite of a veteran of Custer's 7th Cavalry

Among the veterans buried at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery in Lake Forest, Illinois are three soldiers who served under Lt. Colonel Custer at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. Custer split his 7th Cavalry, which is why 1st Sgt. August Seifert, 1st Sgt. John Hackett, and Privates Phillip Spinner and Michael Keegan survived.

Pictured are the gravesites of Sgt. Seifert (left) and his wife, Mary.

Rembember our vets. Today and everyday.
