GOPUSA ILLINOIS Daily Clips - November 12, 2008

PIONEER LOCAL
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: DuPage County Election Commission (DCEC) refuses to post township-by-township or precinct-by-precinct election results on its website. As the GOPUSA Illinois Editor, as the Chairman of TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, as a DuPage County Milton Township Republican Precinct Committeeman, as the husband of an election judge, and as a Republican voter, Diersen is one of those who urges DCEC in the strongest terms possible to immediately change its policy and to immediately post township-by-township and precinct-by-precinct election results on its website. The logic that DCEC uses for its current policy would allow for immediate posting of township-by-township election results. Historically, of DuPage County's nine townships, Milton Township has had the highest percentage of registered voters who vote for Republican candidates. The Milton Township Republican Central Committee is meeting this evening in Wheaton.

CBS2
-- POLL: MONEY TALKS: The Obama campaign appears to have outdone the McCain campaign in contacting voters and encouraging them to go to the polls. While just five percent of voters say they were contacted only by the McCain campaign, 14 percent were only contacted by the Obama campaign. An additional 14 percent were contacted by both campaigns, while 65 percent were not contacted by either campaign. Among new voters, 40 percent say they were contacted only by the Obama campaign, while none said they were contacted exclusively by the McCain camp.

SUBURBAN LIFE
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Democrats are overjoyed that some Republican DuPage County Board members are "reaching out" to their candidates who ran as Democrats and were elected as Democrats to the DuPage County Board. No matter what candidates might say to get elected, candidates who run as a member of a political party are promising that if elected, they will advance that party's platform. Often, to get elected in DuPage County, Democrat candidates a) argue that their Republican opponents have not advanced or will not advance the Republican Party platform and b) argue that if they are elected, they will do a better job of advancing the Republican Party platform than their Republican opponents will. Some candidates who ran as Republicans in DuPage County and who were elected as Republicans in DuPage County will tell you privately that they really always were Democrats, are Democrats now, and always will be Democrats. Of course, the actions that an elected official takes to advance his/her party's platform show if they really are member of that party. Of course, Democrats and Republicans who really are Democrats work against "platform Republicans." Some argue that George Ryan, Jim Ryan, Judy Baar Topinka, Bush Sr. and Jr., and John McCain and others are unpopular and/or lost elections because their actions showed that they reject important planks in the Republican Party platform and/or they work against platform Republicans.

WALL STREET JOURNAL
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Democrat UAW workers who earn an average of $78.21 an hour and Democrat limousine liberals who badmouth vehicles made by UAW workers and who refuse to own or ride in vehicles made by UAW workers helped cause the American auto industry's problems. Now the Democrat Party wants to "rescue" the American auto industry. Will Democrat UAW workers accept a pay cut? Will Democrat limousine liberals stop badmouthing vehicles made by UAW workers and start buying and riding in vehicles made by UAW workers?
