Less than four years ago, a frustrated 30 year-old political junkie started a website. What started as a hobby, DailyKos.com is now a full-time occupation for Markos Moulitsas, and a daily visit for more than 700,000 people around the country. In the past four years, Markos has been labeled "the new face of the Democratic party", "the left's favorite blogger", advised presidential campaigns, spoken to the Senate delegation in DC, and been profiled by The New York Times, MSNBC, and The Washington Monthly. He regularly appears on cable news shows to talk about the influence of technology in the political process. His book, Crashing the Gate, details how the grassroots can reclaim the Democratic party - and it comes out in just two months.

He's coming to Naperville to share his thoughts about the state of the Democratic party today, answer your questions about where the party goes from here, and how we can effect change locally and nationally.

We'll start at 2 PM, socialize for a while and expect to eat around 3. A selection of appetizers, salads, pastas, entrees and of course dessert are on the menu. Kos will speak around 3:30, and answer your questions afterwards. As in years past, we'll have a silent auction that includes some one-of-a-kind items from our elected officials (including Senator Obama, Senator Durbin, Governor Blagojevich) and many other party stars. Costs will be $35/person ($20 for candidates), and $50 will get you a full NTDO membership for 2006 (That's a $10 savings off the regular dues).

Important note for Bears fans: once they win this weekend, they'll be in the NFC Championship game on Sunday, January 22. The NFL contacted us about our event, and made sure to schedule kick-off after our event ends, giving you plenty of time to get to your favorite recliner or sports bar. :)
