Only real news is Cicero News

That's what my step Dad used to tell me after he and my mom moved to Westchester but kept reading the Cicero Life.

I guess the newly passed State Budget includes $1.5 million to help Cicero pay for this master plan,

The problem is, though, it's going to take some time to find out how much land the town owns. Project Planner Craig Pecek is conducting the inventory."

It's a daunting task," Pecek said.

The biggest parcel, by far, is the 80-acre Sportsman's Park parcel, a former horse track and motor speedway that was closed in 2002 and purchased by the town in 2003 for $16 million.

The town wants to create a master redevelopment plan for the site, which would be used to guide future private development. Bids were received by companies who would create such a plan. Proft said a company will be chosen by May 1, and the planning will begin.
If Cook County had an ethics advisor, I'd ask him or her about the ethics of asking the people of Illinios to fund this one.

Update: At least we know it's Cicero getting the $1.5 million. Senate GOP Website is posting Pork Barrel mysteries including gems like,

For DHS: Page 587, Section 45, beginning on line 2 is a $4.8 million lump sum for no specific purpose.

Proft is a real hypocrite working in a corrupt, high tax, big government town like Cicero.

Don't blame Proft for the problems in Cicero. Cicero may have problems but they were not created by Proft. Proft does some interesting and innovative things in politics.

To Proft's defense, it is a new admin. Perhaps he is trying to help clean it up. Perhaps he is at the trough, time will tell. You act as if Proft helped pass the high taxes. What if he is trying to change things there? You are a fool to judge so quickly.
