Culture of Corruption Watch: The Sun Times series on the Rotis

It's pretty good reading.

I grew up just a few blocks from Giancana's home. We'd trick-or-treat there and the care-taker would always give a full size box of cracker jack. Not the small ones sold for Halloween. They had a doormat in back that said go away.

On warm summer evenings neigbors would stand outside watching the FBI guys watch the house.

Giancana was the first person with a snow blower. The care-taker would do the whole block with it.

Doing favors is a big part of the culture.

Target has a door mat for sale which says, "Come Back With A Warrant."

It was my "Message of the Day" on McHenryCountyBlog.com one day late last week. There is a link where you can order it from Target.

that's the problem merlin... it's a snoozer... corruption so much a part of the culture no one cares too much.... or just figures it's biz as usual.

We're content with our jumbo box of cracker jack and let the corrupt run things.

The Roti's were stand up people who helped out the little guy and the underdog.

To finish the thought started above:

"The Roti's were stand up people who helped out the little guy and the underdog..."

Please insert:

"...and had extremely close ties, if not blood ties, to notorius thieves, thugs and liars who use violence as a business tactic and who control most of the illegal gambling, drug sales, prostitution, extortion, loan sharking and murder for hire activity in Chicago."

Or so says the FBI. And now the Sun-Times. Now please go back to telling me how the Roti family is/was Chicago's very own version of Robin Hood and his Merry Men.

And somebody ask John Kass why the Sun-Times was able to steal his lunch.

Nick LoCoco was a Teamster official representing Union Chicago City Truck Drivers. Many Hired Truck company had non-union
drivers most were paid seven or eight dollars a hour, cash, no benefits, no unemployment, and the Teamsters Union knew nothing? Mayor Daley, please explain. Hey Teamsters, do not try to take credit for the new teamsters that are at the benefits office at De Paul center. Your members laugh at you. Remember as we said before, long ago, Get your Hired Truck Insurance from John Daley. Patrick McDonough
