If you fight a lost election then take the high road.

via Paul Dailing in the Kane County Chronicle,

On Friday, Laesch spoke in front of Hastert's Batavia office, in defense of a contested ABC News report that stated that the FBI is investigating Hastert, R-Plano. Laesch gave the same speech later in the day in front of the DeKalb County Courthouse.
[...]
Laesch said he believed Hastert is involved.

"My guess is that ABC has a quality source within, and that person is telling the truth," Laesch said, calling Hastert one of "the ringleaders for the culture of corruption."
I heard Eliot Cohen on talk show after writing this column and he said Congress has probably dropped the ball the most of all branches of government since 911.

I look at the creation of Department of Homeland Security --for starters-- and agree. Laesch should take the opportunity to call Hastert on it.

Forget the culture of corruption stuff. It's forgotten fast in Illinois. Use the platform to ask hard questions. It may not get the press coverage but who knows. Laesch would be doing the country a better service.

His guess is that there is a quality source? What is the deal with the media, in recent years, using "silent sources." If there is news, why don't we know who is making it??? This looks like another attempt to smear a politician.... There are a lot of honest ways to smear a politician, why do these media outlets have to lie???

It’s “smear” when they go after one of your prized Republican politicians, but it’s good old-fashioned, factual, investigative reporting when they go after Rod or a Democratic politician.

Funny, funny, funny! This is going to be an interesting political year.

Arrogance and hypocrisy is the undoing of many.

Do you think that Judy will have both Hastert and Rove at her next fundraiser? Public Officials A+ and AA.

anon,
Hastert with Jefferson defending House priveleges at the freezer section of Lowes.

C'mon, these culture of corruption stuff is silly.

Go after Hastert, go after him for something substantiive... a policy... a failure of Congress to give oversight.

I think Democrats go after phony corruption charges because they want to avoid talking about war on terrorism, security, taxes, abotion, same-sex marriage, don't ask don't tell... anything substantive, and Laesch ducks it.

If I was waging a lost cause, I'd talk abou the stuff no one else will talk about... I'd try and use whatever platform I could get to tell it like it should be.

I wouldn't waste my time with phonies from ABC news.

I have suspected that Laesch is a ringer who has been set up to fail...but by whom? He is not waging an honest campaign, and is not connecting on the issues that are important to the 14th.

Why is it whenever a democrat defends democrats and accuses republicans of wrongdoing they are always named "Anonymous." Corruption witch hunts are usually just that. Witch hunts. The FBI denies that it is investigating Hastert. Patrick Fitzgerald is investigating Blago. Get the facts straight, anonymous. So when you accuse somebody of wrongdoing, make sure there is some basis to it. You are full of crap if you think that the media lying is okay if you are smearing a republican. Come on!!!

Right Bill. It's always about those bad Democrats. Well, the President has botched the war in Iraq. In case you haven't noticed, we don't have enough troops on the ground to stabilize the country. And they don't have the necessary resources. If we want to win the war in Iraq, we will need regime change at home; somebody with the guts to tell the American people what kind of sacrifices we will have to make to get the job done.

well anon,

if that's the case, why doesn't Laesch say it...

...instead of you anonymously.
