David McSweeney About To Attack Kathy Salvi?

That’s what a member of the media has told the Kathy Salvi campaign.

In an email received Wednesday evening on the campaign letterhead comes the following:

We have been called at our headquarters and told David McSweeney is launching negative attack ads against Kathy Salvi on the radio and in the mail box.

Our information suggests that he is doing this because after spending $1 million of his own money, he is falling in the polls.

David McSweeney refused to sign the Pledge of the Illinois Republican Party not to launch unfair personal attacks.

McSweeney is using the same kind of underhanded tactics he used to attack Congressman Phil Crane.

Cal,

Al Salvi started it by verbally attacking Dave on his radio show. Dave is just responding. Let's get the record straight here.

Dan,

Let's be fair here. I am no fan of Al Salvi but i was listening to the show and McSweeney definitely had his callers calling in to attack Kathy first. Al did question David's position abortion which may have gone over the top.

We must also remember that Al is not running as far as I know. Al is a radio show host and McSweeney agreed to go on. I have not seen or heard Kathy attack David at all and if I am not mistaken, she is the candidate.

anonymous,

Well, I think Al invited Dave on the show so he could say, "I tried to invite David, but he declined." But Dave called his bluff by going on.

The questions of Dave on abortion were fair questions--but after Dave's repeated answers, Al seemed to have gone off the rails a bit. He then apologized. The part that got me upset was that the next day, Al did it again.

I say this as a fan of Al who volunteered for his Senate campaign in High school.

He may not be the candidate, but he is the husband and is definitely using his show to promote Kathy--which is fine by me. But for him to use it as a way of attacking is wrong, I think. I just am upset because we all have to make nice at the end in order to beat Melissa Bean.
