Bravo, Lions.
I've been intending to pick up the book written by Kareem Abdul Jabbar on this same topic.
Thanks for a Black History Post Hickey.. It's been a big boost for local history buffs... I'm reading a book on Chicago's 1919 race riots and want to finish it for post this weekend.
Those riots aren't discussed much in Chicago and I thing their legacy explains much about the kind of city we were in the 60s and 70s and are still dealing with today.
Both are excellent! Bill, get Kevin Baker's new novel " Striver's Row" Kevin helped me edit my book about Leo and is author of "Paradise Alley."
His new book is the third in his New City Trilogy and set in Harlem in 1943, Malcolm Little (later Malcolm X) is the pivotal character in this historical fiction.
The 1919 Riots are still being fought - there were also Jewish/Polish riots on the west side at the same time.
