Woman Needed To Beat Bean in 8th?

Daily Herald political writer Erik Kroh doesn’t quite ask that question, but he is close.

He lays out the argument thusly,

The thinking is two-fold. One, a woman would neutralize one of Bean’s strengths, which is her appeal to crossover-minded suburban women. Secondly, a woman-versus-woman contest would allow for a more aggressive attack on targeted freshman Bean without risking the “hey, you’re beating up on a woman” backlash from voters.
Businesswoman Teresa Bartels and attorney Kathy Salvi are the two women in the race.

Or, if you're like me and would rather avoid Cal's blog, here's the link to Krol's story:

It's the fire in the belly Republicans need and that's all with the social conservatives.

And the establishement Republicans say that can't win on those issues in Illinois.

I think you can resolve the two, and I think there is a big change going on with attitudes on abortion.

I'm not sure it's fire in the belly they have...more like ringing in their ears.

I will bet $20,000 that Kathy Salvi will never be in the US House of Representatives in her lifetime.

what does it matter who the GOP runs? Bean will win again with 52 or 53%.
