kinship, bribery, or political favors

Would Illinois politics collapse if we gave up hiring based on kinship, bribery, or political favors? Strange (and sad) opposing it makes Jones stand out as a candidate. From Congressman Danny K. Davis's political forum.

Arlene Jones – 37th Ward speaks fluent Spanish and plans to join the Hispanic Caucus because “there are a lot of Hispanics that live within the community.” As a prominent resident of the ward Jones has connections with the Lafollette Park Advisory Committee; a senior programmer for a large company; and a columnist for the Austin weekly. Issues she supports include housing development for ex-offenders with Single Room Occupancy (SRO) locations.

More grocery stores within the ward mainly on Division Street; and the privatization of city jobs. She also wants more city dollars invested in the community and is opposed to the hiring of people because of kinship, bribery, or political favors.

What would Pat Hickey's friends do without patronage and nepotism and corruption?

Pat Hickey's friends would have to go to jail or get real jobs which would be difficult.
