-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: VERY SAD: Everyone knows that all the religions of the world discourage homosexual activity. Everyone knows that engaging in homosexual activity dramatically increases the likelihood that you will become HIV infected. According to the article: "Men who have sex with men represent the highest percentage of new HIV cases in the country, and black gay and bisexual men are more likely to become infected at a younger age than whites. . .New infection rates among black women are nearly 15 times higher than those for white women, according to the CDC report, which breaks down HIV infection by race, gender and age. Among whites, new infection rates in 2006 were highest for gay and bisexual men in their 30s and 40s. But for black gay and bisexual men, 13- to 29-year-olds were the most at-risk."

-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Oberweis foundation donates 1,000 copies of Robert Renteria's book "From the Barrio to The Boardroom" to Aurora's East Side High School. FROM THE ARTICLE: "In Aurora, it was hundreds of students chanting in Spanish as they marched in the streets." DIERSEN: During the late 1970s, HUD money was used to build garages for low income people on the east side of Aurora. The hope was that their cars would more likely start during winter if they were kept in garages. One of my first assignments when I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980 was to assess the success of that program.

-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Diersen responds to Jerry Moore: Democrats always argue that Republican racism always explains why any block, neighborhood, municipality, township, county, or state lacks "diversity," that is, lacks minorities. The Naperville Sun is an arm of the Democrat Party. So when the Naperville Sun says it is happy that Republican DuPage County is becoming more "diverse," it is really a) arguing that Republican racism explains why, in the past, relatively few minorities choose to live in DuPage County and b) arguing that electing Democrats will diminish racism.

THE HILL
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Democrats propose "gas stamps." To despise American nameplate vehicles is to despise America. Because Democrats despise American nameplate vehicles, would they limit/deny stamps for owners of American nameplate vehicles? Democrats especially despise Corvettes. Even though my 2005 Corvette gets 18 MPG city and 26 MPG highway, would the Democrats let me have any gas stamps for it? What if I promise to drive it even less than I do now?

NEW YORK TIMES
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: VERY SAD BUT NOT SURPRISING: New York Times blasts McCain and promotes Obama RE: “age and developmentally appropriate” sex education curriculum (SEE RESPONSE FROM JOE MORRIS.)
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/12/opinion/12fri3.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
(JOE MORRIS LETTER TO THE EDITOR: To the Editor: Contrary to the claims of your editorial (“A Message from John McCain”, Sept. 12, 2008), the Illinois sex education bill - SB 99 - that state senator Barack Obama supported in 2003 was not plain vanilla legislation under which “at most, kindergarteners were to be taught the dangers of sexual predators.” It was aimed, in fact, at changing the entire philosophy of sex education in the public schools of Illinois. Had the Obama-backed bill passed, it would have deleted requirements in existing law that all public school sex education classes “emphasize that abstinence is the expected norm in that abstinence from sexual intercourse is the only protection that is 100% effective against unwanted teenage pregnancy.” Instead, it would describe abstinence merely as “an effective method of preventing unintended pregnancy” and would say nothing about expected norms. It would also have eliminated the following guidelines of current law: - “Course material and instruction shall teach honor and respect for monogamous heterosexual marriage.” - “Course material and instruction shall stress that pupils should abstain from sexual intercourse until they are ready for marriage.” - “Course material and instruction shall include a discussion of the possible emotional and psychological consequences of preadolescent and adolescent sexual intercourse outside of marriage and the consequences of unwanted adolescent pregnancy.” Rather, it would have substituted the following directive: - “Course material and instruction shall be free of . . . sexual orientation biases.” The bill would have applied to kindergarteners as well as to high school seniors. Although course materials were to have been “age appropriate”, even kindergarteners would have been affected by a curriculum that ceased to promote “monogamous heterosexual marriage” and sexual abstinence until marriage, and sought, instead, to be “free of sexual orientation biases.” Despite Senator Obama’s support of the bill, it failed in a legislature dominated by Democrats. What is unfair is not Senator McCain’s desire to debate the merits of the bill, but the attempt of The New York Times to sweep the matter under the rug.)
