SEIU GA Questionnaire -- Willing to Hand Over Your First Born? (Part 1 of 5)

Nine pages, plus a cover letter. From a union claiming 160,000 members and maybe tens of thousands to come (day care workers) because of a stroke of Governor Rod Blagojevich's pen.

We’re big and we’re tough and, especially, if you’re a Democrat, you &#*XXX-well! better answer our questionnaire with replies we want to see.

Instead of all the questions, the union just could ask:

Are you willing to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Service Employees International Union?

Oh, by the way. Send your first born for security.

If you want to see the kind of torture that Democratic Party candidates have to endure from Governor Rod Blagojevich’s largest contributor, McHenry County Blog has posted it here.

For the rest of the story, click here.

The other four installments will be posted Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday on McHenry County Blog.

Your claims are hyperbole to say the least. Referring to a few survey questions as "torture" that candidates must endure.

Surely Cal you realize that the candidates do not have to answer.

I have answered a lot of candidate questionnaires in 20 elections. This is the most intrusive I have seen.

Wait unitl you read the substantive questions.

Please. They are asking for the entire campaign strategy of the official running for office!

Just tells me that they want it spoonfed to them so that they can easily come up with a counter strategy against anyone that they don't agree with.

Laziness, thy name is SEIU.

Democrats are no more beholden to SEIU than Republicans are to the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Cal. I know you're not that naive, so please don't be so dishonest in presenting the issue.

SEIU has merely learned through the years that the best way to hold elected officials accountable is to get their answers in writing. While it's no guarantee (videotape would be better), it helps make sure people keep their promises.

As someone earlier pointed out, candidates who don't want the endorsement, don't have to fill out the questionaire.

Yellow Dog nailed it. It is about accountability. My guess is the SEIU has been burned by a politician or two in the past.

SEIU has been burned in the past, and some of their local fiefdoms have burned small time Democratic candidates (especially in the Elgin, Il area).

Yellow Dog was right, you are setting up a position as ridiculous as Bush's dichotomy of the Iraq War: Cut and Run or Stay the Course.

It's not that simple, you know it.

Give me the Chamber of Commerce's questionnaire and I'll anaylze it, too.

I can understand why Cal and other conservatives are horrified at the idea of a group representing the interests of the middle class having political power. Is the President of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce still running for Lt. Guv?
