Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Candidate Debra Shore By The Numbers

Cross-posted at WurfWhile.com

The Debra Shore Campaign submitted 20,194 signatures for her Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner candidacy today, beating slated candidates by more than 4,000 signatures and possibly having the most signatures in the race.

Over 274 people collected signatures throughout Cook County to put Debra on the ballot.

Recently, the Sierra Club endorsed Debra Shore as commissioner for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago - their first endorsement in almost 20 years for this environmentally sensitive post.

Debra Shore is impressing the press with front page coverage.

Debra has already raised well over $100,000 for the race - and continues to attract financial support.

OneMan recently talked about a test of the 'Dean Model' candidate - I'd like to suggest that Debra, who I met during the Dean campaign where she was among the grassroots leadership, fits the bill. This race is about a candidate with the credentials for the office and the popular momentum to win. With hard work, with you volunteering to support this winning campaign, with your donation of $50, or $25 or $10, with our candidate - we can win in the primary and general election. Winning with the support of the people - it's a Shore thing. Make it your thing.

Debra is the only qualified candidate.

Shore has the goods to be very successful in this post, for all of the right reasons: experience, integrity, ideas and more. Win or lose, she's a comer. And when she gets every editorial board endorsement, she'll probably win. Nobody will outwork her either, including Barrett

Other than drinking water, what experience do either Barrett Pedersen or Dean Marogos have?

And Anonymous posters should be required to name three MWRD Commissioners before they are allowed to post.

Besides Commissioner Avila, NONE of the MWRD Commissioners have an environmental or engineering background. (Commissioner Avila is a Civil Engineer but sides more with the Engineering rather than the Environmental side) Most of the Commissioners are detached and do not do much. Some do not have any higher education and are clueless at meetings.

Debra Shore has strong environmental credentials even if light on the technical side, she is strong on the policy side.
I have witnessed some of the meetings and the Commissioners are unimpressive. They have no real credentials besides Avila, no higher education, no engineering experience, no environmental experience.

Barret Pederson is doing this as a politician through a political lens and not through an environmental lens. Debra Shore would be the only one through an environmental lens.

Actually, Barrett has a degree in chemistry and has the will and political acumen to get things done. Barrett has been a loyal and valuable member of the Cook Dems who will work to make sure that he is victorious in March. Since when did Illinoize become a forum for free advertising for fringe candidates like Dean and Shore?

While we are being honest, Debra raised both signitures and money mainly from one special intrest group. I hope to hear more from her on the issues! D.W.

Just so you know, more than 700 people contributed money to Shore’s campaign — conservation advocates, Jews, women, friends, Democracy for America volunteers, and members of the LGBT community.

She had close to 300 people circulating petitions — volunteers from the League of Conservation Voters, forest preserve volunteers, the Dem Party of Evanston, 44th Ward and 49th Ward precinct captains, NW suburban Democratic women, people throughout Cook county. She has widespread support from many constituencies. The evidence is in her filings — both financial and on the petitions themselves.

49th ward?? what a joke
they claim to be liberals but are in bed with developers and hurt minorities with TIFs and not including any minorities
they have a terrible voter turnout
didn't alderman Moore come in dead last for Clerk of the the Court?
Debra Shore should get some better volunteers
