Andrea Zinga joins Republican primary race to challenge Rep. Lane Evans

On the last day possible to file candidacy petitions, Andrea Zinga has jumped into the 17th congressional district race. She faces fundamentalist real estate developer Jim Mowen of Moline and Aledo sports agent, jack-of-all-trades Brian "Gilligan" Gilliland in the Republican primary to challenge Rep. Lane Evans.

Andrea is simply following the fine example established by GOPers like John Cox, Jim Oberweis, Steve Rauschenberger and Gary Skoien...let's just keep running for office every election cycle...and let's not face the fact that the voters didn't want you and you lost...no, it must have been another reason why they didn't win...egos, talk about a real danger to society.

She probably won't win... A failed attempt last election cycle really cuts off support. Either way, Evans is safe. He is in a democratic district and is well liked (even by some Republicans). Last election cycle, on my commute of about 20 miles, I saw probably 8 or 9 Lane Evans signs right next to the Bush signs...

At least the people who run for the GOP have careers. Are we supposed to be like the Democrats and have generation after generation on the public dole?
The funny thing is the Democrats are just as rich!
Public service is just that public service you are supposed to get e real job make a sucsess of yourself (if you can) then give something back. Look at Hynes, Madagan, Jackson, R Daley, J Daley those are just from chicago and does not include in-laws cousins. How about this GET REAL JOBS, produce something instead of always taking

I am surprised Zinga is running again after her performance last time. I don't think she offers any real ideas. And Evans' district does not lean Democratic.

How many candidates run and win their first time out? Answer: 50%.

How many good things did Newt Gingrich accomplish as a Congressman?

Gingrich ran and lost three times before he won on try number four.

If one feels they can add to the public discourse then they should run.

You people act like this is some dictatorship where we have no freedom.

Do you consider Zinga's career of sitting in a chair and reading a teleprompter a "real job"?

Yes, she did it well and gained a degree of success, even rising to being on CNN late on weekends for a spell, before falling like a stone back to the last place station in the Quad Cities.

But really, is this what you had in mind by having a "real job", being a sucess, and then giving something back?

And does Evan's career in the Marines count as a "real job"?

I will agree that the 3 R's are definately not the A-List here, and one look at the map it is obvioius that Evans' district is the most gerrymandered in the state.

That being said, my question is to all of you who think Evans is so wonderful: How come after over 20 years on the hill, he has no national profile, no clout, no influence and is still a nobody? Other House members with his years of seniority have accumulated much more power. (Evans' predecessor, Railsback, was in there about 15 years and had a national reputation largely for his service on the Watergate committee) Evans isn't even a blip on the radar. Those of you who live in his district who think he's so wonderful have low expectations, and it shows.

What is a real job then Jack? Funny how people who are envious of others always claim they don't work 'real' jobs...share with us what you do.

Maybe the GOP can import a candidate into the race, like what Rahm and the DCCC are doing in the 6th District.

Zinga is a beotch!
Gilligan needs Skipper!
Lane Evans is a millionaire with
a huge ego, and talks about a bunch of nothing?
because all he does is talk like a politician, not falling for his BS
no more!
and Mowen at least stands for something so far at least Mowen seems to be able to hold down a real job!
