VOTE RA!

Obama and McCain will go “maki-to-maki” in THE taste test of this election season. RA Sushi, the stylishly edgy sushi restaurant and bar, will host VOTE RA!, a campaign battle of the best tasting sushi roll, at all three Chicagoland locations (Chicago, Glenview and Lombard). During the span of both Democratic and Republican conventions starting Monday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Sept. 5, RA Sushi constituents will taste test sushi rolls that embody both Presidential hopefuls and vote on their favorite. Political pundits and sushi supporters will have a RAckin’ good time choosing their favorite maki candidate.

The executive RA Sushi chef has conceived two new rolls to represent the character, integrity and honor of both the Democratic nominee and Illinois Senator Barack Obama and Republican nominee and Arizona Senator John McCain. For $10, voters will sample both the BARACK ATTACK and MCCAIN TERRAIN rolls on a Campaign Platter and then cast a ballot for the preferred maki based on one criteria and one criteria alone, taste.

The Campaign Platter includes:
“Blue” BARACK ATTACK – Layered with smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber and artichoke rolled in rice and seaweed and topped with crunchy blue tempura bits, finished with a sweet eel sauce and wasabi mayo
“Red” MCCAIN TERRAIN – Spicy tuna, crab mix and cucumber rolled in rice and seaweed and topped with crunchy red tempura bits, finished with a sweet eel sauce and spicy mayo

A portion of the proceeds, $3 from every sale of the Campaign Platter, from VOTE RA! will benefit Rock the Vote, an organization that engages and builds the political power of young people in order to achieve progressive change in our country. In addition, RA will offer $6 Appletini and Cosmopolitan cocktails.

The winning candidate’s roll will be inaugurated onto the menu at all three Illinois RA Sushi restaurants starting on Friday, Sept. 12 through Friday, Oct. 3. An official check presentation to Rock The Vote will be held at RA Chicago on Monday, Oct. 6 from 6 to 8p.m., a day before the last day to register in Illinois to be able to vote for the 2008 Presidential election. During the event, guests will have the opportunity to register and taste the amazing RA Sushi menu of delicious dishes, creative cocktails and assortment of sakes. Both Lombard and Glenview locations will also host voter registration events with Rock the Vote on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m., respectively.

RA Sushi has three must-visit locations in the Chicagoland area. The downtown Chicago location in the trendy Gold Coast neighborhood (1139 N. State St., 312-274-0011), the North Shore suburban location in Glenview (2601 Aviator Ln., 847-510-1100) and the newest location at The Shops on Butterfield in the Yorktown Center, Lombard (310 Yorktown Center, 630-627-6800). No Cynthia McKinney, Bob Barr, Ralph Nader, or Chuck Baldwin sushi? I won't ever be eating there and I will make sure to spread the word to everyone I know that RA Sushi endorses the mess the two corruption parties are causing and RA Sushi discriminates against minorities and does not deserve their business. In fact, this comment will start showing up in search engines before, so I'll reach even more people.

RA Sushi should join us in the 21st Century where people like more choices than Coke or Pepsi or pizza or burgers.
