MCCAIN CAMPAIGN
-- Response to Obama's comments in Springfield, Rolla, and Union, Missouri, yesterday: "Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It's divisive, negative, shameful and wrong."

(FROM THE PRESS RELEASE: ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today issued the following statement from McCain Campaign Manager Rick Davis in response to Barack Obama's comments in Springfield, Rolla and Union, Missouri, yesterday: "Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It's divisive, negative, shameful and wrong." Barack Obama's Comments Yesterday In Springfield, Rolla And Union, Missouri: Barack Obama In Springfield, Missouri: "So nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face, so what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he's not patriotic enough. He's got a funny name. You know, he doesn't look like all those other Presidents on those dollar bills, you know. He's risky. That's essentially the argument they're making." (Barack Obama, Remarks, Springfield, MO, 7/30/08) Watch: http://blip.tv/file/1132434 Barack Obama In Rolla, Missouri: "That's not the debate we're getting out of John McCain right now. He's spending an awful lot of time talking about me. You notice that? I haven't seen an ad yet where he talks about what he's gonna do. And the reason is because those folks know they don't have any good answers, they know they've had their turn over the last eight years and made a mess of things. They know that you're not real happy with them. And so the only way they figure they're going to win this election is if they make you scared of me. So what they're saying is, 'Well, we know we're not very good but you can't risk electing Obama. You know, he's new, he doesn't look like the other presidents on the currency. He's got a funny name.' I mean, that's basically the argument -- he's too risky." (Barack Obama, Remarks, Rolla, MO, 7/30/08) Watch: http://blip.tv/file/1132429 Barack Obama In Union, Missouri: "John McCain and the Republicans, they don't have any new ideas, that's why they're spending all their time talking about me. I mean, you haven't heard a positive thing out of that campaign in a month. All they do is try to run me down, and you know, you know this in your own life, right? If somebody doesn't have anything nice to say about anybody, that means they've got some problems of their own. So they know they've got no new ideas, they know they're dredging up all the stale, old stuff they've been peddling for the last eight, ten years. But since they don't have any new ideas the only strategy they've got in this election is to try to scare you about me. They're going to try to say that I'm a risky guy, they're going to try to say, 'Well, you know, he's got a funny name, and he doesn't look like all the presidents on the dollar bills and the five dollar bills,' and they're going to send out nasty e -mails. And the latest one they got me in an ad with Paris Hilton. You know, never met the woman. But, you know, what they're going to try to argue is that somehow I'm too risky. You know, basically what they're saying to you is we know we didn't do a real good job, but he's too risky." (FROM THE ARTICLE: The first legislative act of Illinois special-election winner Bill Foster, who got the Democrats started in their special election victories, was to resolve a major Republican objection to the initial version of Rep. Barney Frank’s (D-Mass.) housing bill. Republicans raised concerns about the possibility of felons renting or buying homes that state and local governments would buy as part of a multi-billion-dollar federal grant program. Foster, who was elected from the district of former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), was given the bill that resolved the issue. Foster’s bill inserted language into the housing bill barring anyone convicted of a sex offense, mortgage fraud, or drug-dealing in the last five years, from repurchasing government-bought foreclosed homes.)

(DIERSEN: Between 1966 and 1997, I devoted a tremendous amount of my personal time and money earning four college degrees -- a bachelors degree in management from Northern Illinois University in 1970, an MBA from Loyola University in 1976, a masters degree in accounting from DePaul University in 1980, and a masters degree in finance from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1997. I also devoted lots of personal time and money taking review courses that helped me pass the CPA examination in 1979 on my first attempt and the Certified Internal Auditor examination in 1981 on my first attempt. I do not regret spending all that personal time and money, but I continue to be outraged that my anti-conservative federal government superiors (Post Office 1966-1969, IRS 1971-1980, and GAO 1980-1997) wasted much of what I learned from those courses because they wasted my career and then forced me to take early retirement in 1997. At the Post Office, they argued that they needed to schedule me to work at the times I was taking courses. At IRS and GAO, they argued that the courses did not relate to my job duties, that they did not help me do my job better, that they were a "distraction," that they qualified me for a new trade or business, and that the real reason I took the courses was to get a job in private industry. Why did my anti-conservative federal government superiors waste my career and then force me to take early retirement? Because they were following their superiors' orders -- outrageously, because of congressional mandates, executive orders, and court decisions, the federal government's top priority is to hire, to retain, and to promote women and minorities, especially young women and minorities and to retaliate against anyone who complains about it like I did. Further, because veterans were protected from having to pay the price of "affirmative action," non-veterans like me had to pay it. For information on my reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation lawsuit against GAO, visit: http://www.adversity.net/c16_tbd.htm. More outrageously, anti-conservatives continue to argue that my work and my opinions should be ignored because a) GAO never promoted me beyond GS-13, b) GAO forced me to take early retirement, and c) a Peter Fitzgerald appointed attorney (Patrick Fitzgerald) and a Peter Fitzgerald appointed judge (Amy St. Eve) rejected my claims against GAO.)
