Rod Blagojevich: Accessory After the Fact

At age 14, Johnnie Lee Savory was railroaded by Peoria prosecutors. After 36 hours of interrogation, without his parents or an attorney present, he was coerced into confessing to a double-murder he did not commit.

30 years later, he's finally out thanks to the pro bono work of Jenner & Block attorney Christopher Tomkins and many others, but only a DNA test can clear his name and point law enforcement to the real killer. Governor Blagojevich's administration won't approve the test. The Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University is urging folks to call Governor Blagojevich at 217-782-0244 and tell him to order DNA testing for Johnnie Lee Savory.

Savory's campaign for justice is supported by five former U.S. Attorneys, author/attorney John Grisham, author/activist Studs Terkel, and a broad coalition of religious, civil rights, and business leaders.

P.S. Barack Obama has touted his work on videotaping police interrogations. In his press conference announcing his retirement, Senate President Emil Jones also took credit for the same measure. Either one of these fine leaders could call Governor Blagojevich and get some retro-active justice for Johnnie Lee Savory.

Barack Obama has been silent on police torture.
