On Sunday, August 10, Cook County GOP Chairman Lee Roupas advised Cook County GOP Township and Chicago GOP Ward Committeemen that Maureen Murphy, the Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee Member for Congressional District 1 and the Worth Township GOP Chairman, had passed away on Saturday, August 9, following a long battle with cancer. In his email Lee said "Maureen was a fighter, a person who cared deeply about the Republican Party, and someone who wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in. We have had no one quite like her in our caucus over the years, and she will be undoubtedly missed. I will update you with the family arrangements as they become available and will also send you the family mailing address. Let's keep Maureen and her family in our thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time."
