SUBURBAN LIFE
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Hastert, Poshard, and Schillerstrom promote Blagojevich's $25 billion "Illinois Works" capital program. But sadly, to pay for that program, because Illinois is so deep in debt and spending so much more than it is taking in, they are promoting things that conflict with the Republican Party platform: a) raising taxes and/or fees, b) selling and/or leasing state assets, c) expanding gambling, and/or d) going even further into debt. Further, everyone knows that if a, b, c, and/or d were implemented, Blagojevich would spend any increased revenues on things that conflict with the Republican Party platform, for example, more welfare programs that promote dependency on government. Tragically, Blagojevich is bankrupting Illinois with his success in driving taxpayers and businesses out of Illinois and in attracting to Illinois people who typically vote for Democrats -- people who have little or no education or job skills and/or have severe health, financial, and or other problems.

(FROM THE COMMENTARY: The good news is there are plenty of better Republicans on the bench ready to replace Kjellander - and to stop the Combine's announced replacement choice, Ray LaHood. Champion News has confirmed that Steve Rauschenberger is ready to suit up again, if duty calls. State Senator Chris Lauzen would be excellent too, and we know both of these friends and former colleagues would work together for the common Republican good. There are many other good leaders out there, but either Rauschenberger or Lauzen would be a top choice in our view. Either of these men would beat LaHood in Decatur - provided serious Republicans are allowed to get there as delegates. (Folks, are you starting to understand why our State Party isn't even promoting this Convention?))
