FOID Warning

Received my new Firearm Owner’s Identification Card and discovered something I don’t think I have seen before.

There’s a

CAUTION: This card does not permit bearer to UNLAWFULLY carry or use firearms.
But, there’s more:
This does not authorize the carrying of a concealed weapon.
Really.

As if most gun owners in Illinois don't know that Illinois is one of the few states in the Union that does not grant that privilege to its law abiding citizens.

The new card does have a nifty little hologram in the lower right hand corner. It is much more colorful in the photograph than when I look at it. It must be the flash.

Cal, why is it noteworthy that some firearm owners may need a reminder that Illinois does not allow concealed carry (thank GOD)?

At least the photo seems to be better than the one ou usually see on a driver's license in this state!

So, does this mean you have to go out and buy a fancy gun belt and holster?

"As if most gun owners in Illinois[missing word?] that Illinois is one of the few states in the Union that does not grant that privilege to its law abiding citizens."

Looks like Skinner was so fired up that he forgot to add a verb there.

Thanks for your editing assistance.

Although I don't share Bridget's enthusiasm that we are one of two states that do NOT have concealed carry in the United States... these warnings both appear on my older FOID Cards. Were they missing on yours?

Concealed carry sure helped in the State of Nevada today, didn't it?

That was a very safe place today.
