Will Gidwitz lead the way?

While touring the state in her gubernatorial campaign kickoff, State Treasurer Judy Baar-Topinka pointed to polling as a key reason she believes she will be the candidate that can beat Blagojevich next fall.
The first obstacle, however, will be getting past the March 2006 primary. With five candidates in the race -- two socially moderate (read pro-abortion and pro-homosexual rights) and three socially conservative (read pro-life and pro-natural family) -- Topinka's odds are good that she can obtain what she needs: 21% of the GOP primary vote.
The three conservatives candidates must join forces and implement a powerful backlash behind one candidate who can take back the vacant Governor's mansion in 2006. If they don't, conservative voters will blame them next March when the GOP nominee is Topinka.
But ironically, perhaps the key to unlocking this dilemma is the other social moderate in the race. Wonder what it would take for Ron Gidwitz to start the process by being the first to bow out and join forces with another Republican?

I'd be surprised if Topinka didn't get over 40% in the 5 way race as it stands now, perhaps close to 50%.

Fran should not blog anymore until she admits that Paul Caprio was right.
She needs to apologize for her support for George Ryan.
She needs to apologize for her support for Jack Ryan when she knew he had something in his background and may drop.
She needs to apologize for her support for Alan Keyes when it was obvious to many that it was going to be a debacle.
Fran Eaton also supported the lecherous Lee Daniels who is now about to get indicted.

Fran has had poor knowledge, analysis and discernment in politics. She needs to apologize and repent in the true tradition of Christianity. Not just the ego and pride and brazeness she displays on the internet.

Fran is useless, there's no doubt about that. Conservatives like Fran had their chance with a conservative candidate when they brought the apostle Keyes to Illinois last year...look at that train wreck. Oh sure, they'll say Peter Fitzgerald won...but look who he ran against.

Fran, please, don't post until you have real news.

Isn't "pro-family" getting a little overused? What makes someone pro family? If a candiate were truly "pro-family" why would they spend a year campaigning, away from their families, in order to satisfy their egos?

grand old partisan 1:41 PM

I started to write a response to this, but I got a little wordy and decided to just make a whole new post of it. See above....

It's now pro-NATURAL famiy (didn't you read FE's and GOP's entries).

For example, Barack Obama and Dick Durbin remain married to their original spouses. Natural families.

Steve Rauschenberger, Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Dick Armey, Goerge Will, Bob Barr, Phil Gramm, John Engler, Bob Dole, Al D'Amato, John Warner, George Allen, Henry Kissinger, John McCain, John Kasich and Susan Molinari are a few examples of divorcees - and apparently anti-natural family.

Bill and Hillary stayed together in order to provide their daughter with a family...guess that makes them "pro-family" as well...GOPers gotta hate that.

Why didn't Fran Eaton agree with the consensus at the Conservative Summit Conference.?

Fran seems to be agreeing with Paul Caprio

If people would have listened to Paul Caprio and the consensus at the summer conference. The conservatives would have stopped Topinka. The Fran Eatons of the world destroyed the conservative movement in Illinois. Are those two goofs Doug and Cathy that Fran promoted still around.

Is Fran Eaton still palling around with Dan Proft?

When did Steve Rauschenberger get divorced? He is married to his college sweetheart.

This information above is inaccurate.

I know what the blogger was atempting to say, but 21% of the primary vote doesn't guarantee a victory for any candidate unless the other four equally split the balance of the voters. Only +50% can assure a candidate of victory regardless of the number of participants.

Only +50% can assure a candidate of victory regardless of the number of participants.

If there's 3 or more candidates, the winner won't need 50% and probably won't need more than 45%. But anything less than 40% in a 3 way race spells trouble for winning back voters in the General who didn't choose you the first time in the primary.

Fran Eaton owes Paul Caprio an apology.
