Fighting Tony Peraica

Peraica posts over at Illinois Review,

We had an historic opportunity to not only clean up Cook County government, but also to deliver a severe blow to the corrupt Chicago Democratic machine. Instead, certain commissioners (including the current Cook County Republican Chairwoman) thought it more important to be in good standing with President Todd Stroger and John Daley than to do what is right for Cook County taxpayers and residents.
What good's a GOP that caves in for Todd Stroger's budget. No one speaks out except Peraica here and instead expect Fitzgerald to do the heavy lifting.

This is a riot. No doubt the Republican Chairwoman traded her support for a job or two for her campaign workers. Will the Republicans be outraged that their party leaders want to provide jobs for Republicans? I hope the Chicago job inspector lady looks into this so I can hear the spin.

Tony Peraica is a good guy and may be doing the right thing. BUT he is like the dutchboy (or was it a girl) with the finger in the dike (sic?). If Cook County voters want Todd Stroger (I didn't personlly)--they can have him--Chicago and Cook County doesn't want good government. That is emperical. Sorry, but the truth hurts.

Good lord, how gullible can some people be? It was Phony Tony who was part of a small minority of commissioners who supported a budget "plan" that didn't balance. It was Phony Tony's group that wouldn't do a blind review of job holders. Stroger did. He required that all names be stricken from the review, so commissioners were only looking at job description and pay.

It was Phony Tony that wanted to make sure his own patronage people stayed on, like his own son who is on the County payroll.

Peraica's nothing but a sore loser. All he does is lash out at the people who kicked his butt. He's always been that way. This year it just happens to be Gorman and Stroger.

Republicans would be better off if Phony Tony went back to where he spent most of his life, to the Democrat Party. Oh that's right, they got sick of him too.

The Doody family does seem to be interesting.

Liz’s brother ran for Alderman in the 3rd Ward as a Democrat, put serious effort into it and yet only got 12%. He’s now come out in support of the incumbent, Madeline Haithcock, presumably because she has promised him cash and other benefits (per South Loop news reports).

Meanwhile, the Republican County Chair herself has dumped the 2nd Ward committee person; no one appears to be disputing it is because that person did not vote for Gorman in the party vote. The locals are extremely unhappy. I’m sure this story is not over.

And then there is the news report that Gorman’s right hand at the Republican Party office is a former Stroger person.

It was the 42nd Ward, and she has already installed a crony. I suspect that the crony has no idea what's coming for her.

fedup dem 9:45 PM

I hope the good people in Orland Township check out who Comm. Gorman is supporting in the various local races there on April 17 and vote for the other candidates in every contest. It would serve her right!

I agree with 8:24. Tony Peraica is an antagonistic, pompous, troublemaking, head line seeking sore loser. I wasn't crazy about Stroger either but give him a break. He inherited a total mess and he at least didn't raise taxes. So, a few of his relatives and/or cronies are on the payroll. I think he cut more out of this last budget than all his predecessors combined. Let's see..he's been in office for less than 90 days?? If he doesn't fix those tobaggan slides in the South Burbs he won't get my vote though.

What I am reading in the comments about Mr. Peraica is a little disconcerting such as he also has family members on the county payroll like Todd Stroger. I don't live in Cook County, thankfully. I can readily understand why there is a flight of home owners from Cook County to Will County.
I had previously sent a small financial contribution to Tony's campaign. I kind of wish I hadn't now after reading some of the comments.

Liz Gorman is already showing some great leadership.

How voting for Todd Stroger's budget can be called leadership I can't fathom. I don't care what else she did. She caved in...some GOP.

Anybody who thinks Liz Gorman should remain as Chairman of the Cook County GOP should just read the libel (yes, libel, none of those facts were true, and were posted with intent to injure) by one oher colleagues in the post above. She is the figurehead of a really sleazy group, through and through.

Did anyone notice that the slimy posting above never mentioned the "new" Committeemen slected by Queen Liz? Yes, its the utterly inexperienced WIFE of one of Liz's cronies, mainly because the husband has so many black marks on him that he couldn't seek re-election with a straight face.

By the way, Gordon and Gerson brought the 42nd Ward in for Peraica by 59-41. Terrible, terrible job, huh? LOL

IMPEACH LIZ GORMAN NOW!!!

The GOP in Cook is weird.... no question about it. So I deleted the comment that got a little personal and I had overlooked.

I keep wondering when the Greens can over an alternative besides this mumbo jumbo on sustainability.

Hey 6:31-

Why don't you come clean and tell us what Lil' Lizzie got for changing her mind and her vote?

Bet it was juicy! Lining up with the Machine to betray reform often pays well in this town.

Anonymous,  7:04 PM

ha ha ha ha ha....Peraica a "reformer" that's rich. Thanks, I needed a good laugh.

I don't know that Liz got anything for voting for a balanced budget that Phony Tony opposed. We all got better government though.

I'm more interested in adding up all the spoils Phony Tony and his cronies have pulled out of Cicero since they got their guy Larry Dominick in as town president there. Hopefully the Feds are doing it for us.

Dominick of course was once one of Betty Loren Maltese's enforcers, and Cicero is where Peraica sunk a lot of his crooked roots. Yeah, he's quite the reformer.

I hope everyone will go the tape of last week's Cook County Board of Commissioners Meeting, in which Periaca had Health Department bureaucrats squirming to cover their butts from his on-point questions about their wasteful spending, and lack of interal controls. Go get 'em, Tony!

Anonymous,  12:25 AM

So now he's complaining about wasteful spending? I thought he's been complaining that Stroger cut too much spending from the Health Dept.

Let's face it, the guys just likes to piss and moan. Anything that will get his Chicken Little mug in front of a camera. All bitching, no action. When will this loser just go away?

Anonymous,  1:37 AM

12:25-

I hope he stays for a long time.

We can see what "action" means to your crowd:

1. Sell out to the Machine.

2. Remove good Committeemen.

3. Install cronies who won't work too hard - to leave in competent people might make Democratic County Chairman Joe Barrios mad. Didn't Joe Berrios lobby GOP Comitteemen to vote for Liz this February?

Liz Gorman - the Democratic Party's Choice for GOP County Chairman!

Anonymous,  12:33 PM

Cry all you want hypocrites.

The truth about Peraica, Gordon, Gerson and the rest of that little washed-up crew will all be revealed very soon.

Anonymous,  1:52 PM

I don't understand Comm Gorman, grew up on the south side, daughter of a fireman, her brother ran as a Democrat for Alderman, and then she jumps on the Todd Stroger budget. Is she a Republican? I agree she is the Deomocrats choice for Republican chair.

Anonymous,  7:26 PM

Anonymous 12:33, dream on. It looks very much like the tide is running strongly in the opposite direction.

Seriously, can anybody recall a County Chairman, either party, that was in this much controversy just weeks into office?

It would appear that Liz Gorman is getting poor advice.

Anonymous,  10:51 AM

Anon 7:26, all you're proving is that it was the right thing for the Cook GOP to overwhelmingly reject your scummy little faction. Liz won the chairmanship by a huge margin. Would probably be even larger today. Thanks to people like you.

You're done, and no one wants anything to do with such scummy, dishonest people. A handful of wackjobs can sit around all they want and pretend anyone is listening. Have at it. But everyone knows the kind of people Gordon and Gerson were, and no decent person wants anything to do with them. Peraica's getting there too.

Anonymous,  6:11 PM

Joe Berrios is a mean, nasty guy. He is not the nice portly guy he seems to be. He is a crook and a party boss with too much power. VOTE JAY PAUL DERATANY!!
