Impeach Bush? Impeach Karen Yarbrough!!!
And I'm no fan of Bush either. In fact, I was responsible for putting the only "other" choice for President besides Bush and Kerry on the ballot in Illinois in 2004. How is that for not being a fan of Bush?
Karen Yarbrough voted YES on SB2123 in June of 2004 to PUT BUSH ON THE ILLINOIS BALLOT LETTING HIM IGNORE THE RULE OF LAW. And now she wants to impeach him for ignoring the rule of law when she helped him do it before?
Article III. Section 3 - Illinois Constitution:
All Elections Shall Be Free And Equal
ARTICLE IX. SECTION 13. SPECIAL LEGISLATION - Illinois Constitution:
The General Assembly shall pass no special or local law when a general law is or can be made applicable. Whether a general law is or can be made applicable shall be a matter for judicial determination.
State Rep. Karen Yarbrough needs to be impeached for violating Article III, Section 3 of the Illinois Constitution if she wants to play that game.

Jeff, I hate to be the one to point this out to you, but there is no provision in the Illinois Constitution for impeaching a member of the General Assembly.
So much for the rule of law, eh?
Don't you think you're making a mole hillout of an ant hill?
Why doesn't that surprise me YDD? You obviously didn't get the "joke" in regards to the Illinois GA being able to start impeachment procedings according to the US Constitution. Didn't Lincoln write a procedural handbook as a supplement to the Illinois House rules what would allow bloggers to implement impeachment procedings of GA members?
When the ant hill fits, I wear it. I'm an opportunist, and proud of it, if you haven't figured that out yet.
The point still is valid that Yarbrough helped Bush ignore the rule of law and now wants to impeach him for something she helped him do.
that's a little twisted logic there. even if bush hadn't been on the illinois ballot, he would have won in 2004. so one can hardly argue that yarborough's vote helped bush get re-elected.
opposing putting the nominee of a major party on the ballot was/is untenable. and it will happen again in 2008, as the republican convention will again be after the illinois (and alabama) deadline. now *there's* an opportunity for ya!
She needs to come up with some ideas on her home town to cut the murder rate.Maybe a start would be to impeach the Mayor.
Got that right anon 6:36...
Impeach them all...they all voted yes to SB2123
The only way to cut the murder rate in Maywood is to end the stupid stupid prohibition on narcotic drugs. Impeachment won't quite do that.
Jeff, you're fixating on minutia and blaming Yarbrough for a deal cut way over her head.
bored - no one argued her vote got Bush elected. The non-twisted argument is that Yarbrough supported and assisted Bush in getting away with ignoring Illinois election laws, contrary to our State Constitution. Yarbrough was completely silent while Madigan was kicking Nader off the ballot, so she is complicate with letting Bush get away with ignoring the laws, yet had no problem with using unequal laws to remove Nader.
carl - It's nice to know democratic elections are minutia and Yarbrough only votes the way Madigan tells her to when he cuts deals way over her head. Being right about one thing doesn't make her right about all things. I'm sorry it was so easy for me to point out a bit of hypocisy on her part, but that's politics. Just because you like her now that she went out on a limb for this doesn't mean she should be immune from criticism, and belittling our unfair election process as minutia is not much different than Bush saying national security leaks and spying on American citizens is just minutia. Maybe next time Yarbrough won't rubber stamp Madigan's deals over her head and will think twice about what the word democratic is suppose to mean.
