Hastert sends a letter endorsing Wiggins

I got a letter from the Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert today. Congratulating me on my election as a committeeman and encouraging me to attend the Kane County Republican Party Convention on April 19th and supporting Denny Winngins for both party chair and State Central Committeeman for the 14th Congressional District.

So does this put an end to any chance Oberweis has of getting either of those positions (assuming he will run).

Doubt it.

Unfortunately, Denny's been on the wrong side of the last few contested races in Republican primaries in his home County (Kendall). Most recently, Denny endorsed Boyd Ingemunson over First Assistant State's Attorney Eric Weis, and Weis won.

That's CERTAINLY not to say that the Kendall County party regulars are big fans of Obie, but they're absolutely not fans of Dallas Ingemunson. And the more Dallas throws around his weight in his dealings with the various Committeepeople, the more reasonable Obie comes across (and that's hard to accomplish).

If Denny wants "his guy" in place, he'd be wise to rein in Dallas.

Denny's been wrong, but at least he hasn't lost 3 statewide races.
