DAILY HERALD
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Will Ayers and his supporters stage a protest this evening in "privileged" Glen Ellyn? Will journalists Jerry Moore and Ken Vanko cover the event this evening or will they just continue to harass Diersen (see below)? The Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) will host its 29th Oktoberfest fundraiser in the beautiful Abbington Banquet Hall in "privileged" Republican Glen Ellyn this evening. All Republicans are invited. Tickets are still available. Attendees last year included Arndt, Biggins, Birkett, Bucholz, Coladipietro, Cronin, Dillard, Fortner, Grogan, Henry, Hill, Hultgren, Kachiroubas, Martin, Meyer, Murphy, Pankau, Pihos, Roskam, Ruscitti, Rutherford, Sauerberg, Siekmann, Smith, and Zaruba. For information on this year's event, phone MTRCC Vice Chairman Chris Edwards at 773-620-3601. Ayers calls Republican DuPage County, Republican Milton Township, and Republican Glen Ellyn a "ghetto of privilege." Does that explain why so many limousine liberals are moving to DuPage County, to Milton Township, and to Glen Ellyn instead of to Hyde Park, to Oak Park, and to Evanston?

(THE ARTICLE: Bill Ayers' suburban ties - Jamie Stonoff Today, he's a topic of debate in the presidential campaign. But Bill Ayers started out as a smart kid from a wealthy Glen Ellyn family. His father was a CEO of ComEd, and he lived a "privileged" suburban life while a student at Glenbard West High School and Lake Forest Academy. "I grew up in a ghetto. A ghetto of privilege," he said during an interview at Harper College in 2006. "My parents didn't know a single person who opposed the war in Vietnam." Ayers would go on to be a radical anti-war protester, and in the 1960s, helped form the group, The Weathermen (later known as the Weather Underground). To protest the Vietnam War and what they saw as the racist, corrupt men running the government, Ayers and his group resorted to violence. It began in 1969, with a window smashing spree on Chicago's Gold Coast known as "Days of Rage," and escalated to planting bombs in government buildings. When Ayers ended up on the FBI's Most Wanted list in 1970, Ayers and other Weathermen members went "underground." Ayers didn't resurface again until 1980. The story is told in an Academy Award-nominated documentary film by Chicagoan Bill Siegel, "The Weather Underground." Both Ayers and his wife, fellow Weather Underground member Bernardine Dohrn, have since become esteemed professors, authors and activists for a wide range of causes both locally and globally. "I can't imagine doing now what we did then," Dohrn said in the 2006 interview. Ayers is laying low and declining media interviews, as his connection to Barack Obama is now under scrutiny.)

-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: In 2000 and in 2008, the news media did everything it could to help McCain win the Republican presidential primaries. While the news media failed in 2000, it succeeded in 2008. Now that the news media's candidate has won the primary, the news media hypocritically demonizes and denigrates its candidate.

SUBURBAN LIFE
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: VERY SAD: Suburban Life employee Jerry Moore gets lawyer Ken Vanko with the Wheaton firm of Clingen, Callow, & McLean to join him in harassing Diersen; says that Vanko says that "uber-partisans" are causing McCain's problems; spells Diersen's name wrong again; says "Vanko understands that Diersen is merely spouting Republican platitudes and not engaging in any serious discussion of important issues;" says that "Diersen affixes ridiculous 'headlines' on links to stories posted on the Web sites of news organizations;" says that "Diersen grossly simplifies how everything good happening in DuPage County is the work of Republicans and everything bad happening in DuPage County is the work of Democrats;" says that Diersen "claims that social problems occur in DuPage County only because Democrats recruit people to live in blissful, peaceful, crime-free, conservative, Republican DuPage County; this then lowers the quality of life that DuPage County Republicans have worked so hard to create, as if Republican DuPage County were incapable of producing criminals itself (OK, except for Ayers, who grew up in Glen Ellyn); says that "The rationale that Diersen displays is laughable. To their credit, many DuPage County Republicans don’t take Diersen seriously. With his sloppy thinking on display each day, how he has managed to maintain the position of Milton Township GOP committeeman is beyond comprehension;" says that "Diersen has still refused to explain what makes Liddy a noble American in his mind or point out where I promoted Ayers and Obama. He merely whines again and again about being “demonized and denigrated;” and says that "If Diersen understood anything about the news business, he would know that journalists are supposed to challenge the kind of tortured logic he exhibits. Vanko has identified incidents like this as a key problem facing McCain and the GOP, and he’s right. Thank God someone in the blogosphere is using his brain."

KEN VANKO
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: VERY SAD: Lawyer Ken Vanko with the Wheaton firm of Clingen, Callow, & McLean says he "has voted far more often for Republicans than Democrats;" blames McCain's problems on "excessive partisanship;" says he is distressed "to no end to see the level of banality in our political discourse most of which is coming from the conservative right;" says "On the right, though, a hateful, destructive, xenophobic element has emerged lately that is, frankly, quite scary;" says "I’ve always been skeptical of hyper-partisans;" asks "Why would Sean Hannity, for instance, advance an Ayers line of attack on Obama by relying on none other than Illinois’ red-headed stepchild Andy Martin - serial litigator, GOP beatnik, and disheveled partisan goofball who is most famous for his brazen anti-semitic remarks? I mean, Andy Martin is a joke among Republicans;" and says "So enter Dave Diersen, so-called “journalist”, retired government bean-counter, and GOP partisan hack from Wheaton. He is engaged in a cyber-brouhaha with (among others) Moore. As is typical of Diersen’s faulty, non-sensical, overly simplistic syllogisms, he takes Moore’s point and twists it into a false argument that Moore is an Ayers/Obama sympathizer. Wrong. It’s so 2008 for the jackass to ridicule the one making an intellectual argument. Just shout guilty loud-enough, and someone from FOX News will believe you. To say Moore is promoting Ayers is obviously false. I’d say Diersen knows better, but I’m not so sure. His drivel and half-baked scoops are legendary. But here is the point: it is really difficult to have a meaningful discourse about the issues when you’re immersed in sub-kindergarten logic. That’s what we as a society have been reduced to. Speaking of kindergartners, the current president’s most destructive legacy is his black-and-white, us-versus-them, “you’re either with us or against us” mentality. The political left is filled with goofballs, but it’s the hard-right that has taken this polarizing view of the world and made it frightening for independents. Diersen’s discourse is an unfortunate example of it, but at least it’s laughable and not exactly dangerous. Let’s not kid ourselves, though – the menacing zealots lurk and they are more vocal than ever. And McCain, a fundamentally decent and heroic American, suffers for it."
