Sun Times: Todd spends big on another assistant
Today's Sun Times:
"How many high-paid PR people does [Stroger] need who don't talk to the press?" Commissioner Forrest Claypool, a frequent opponent, asked. No kidding... I heard Tony Perica comment on TV last night. Where did the rest of the GOP go?
Stroger has been under fire for loading up on high-paid management jobs while frontline workers are being laid off by the thousands.

Is this really worthy of this forum? All it does is to repeat a story from a newspaper. No analysis, no real insight.
This is another example of why Illinoize was a good idea in theory but it is just not making the grade.
How about adding some thought? How about some research? How about comparing Stroger Sr.'s spending to Stroger Jr.'s. That would have been worth reading.
OK sjeeter, how about a discussion as to how many more of these outrageous hires of PR people that won't talk to the media will there be before Patrick Fitzgerald nails Toddler's sorry dumb posterior?
Fedup Dem:
I have no problem with a discussion of Stroger's screw ups.
I didn't vote for him. I voted for Claypool in the primary and Peraica in November. I can't stand Stroger.
What I object to is simply tossing a newspaper story out there and calling it a blog entry. That required no thought and Baar provided no analysis.
Rich Miller does a great job on his site of providing links to the major media. Baar doesn't have to do that here. And that is all that he has done. It makes this site irrelevant, which is unfortunate.
I don't think it's relevant. A little lacking maybe, yes. But I visit Illinoize not necessarily for the blog host's commentary. I visit it because it always-only contains news I'm interested in.
I am glad that I voted for Tony Peraica for County Board Prez--I feel vindicated.
Is there still a GOP in Cook County and/or Illinois?
Todd Stroger is a corrupt joke.
Pickle, can you put this stuff so it's less personal attack... and maybe too some of the research youself rather than suggest it?
Steve Landek's (and Eddie Vrdolyak, and Jeremiah Joyce, and Bobby Molaro) operative STEVE REYNOLDS died in Arizona (suntimes.com)
he was wearing a wire
related to the SOCCER STADIUM
and POLEKATZ in Bridgview Strip Club
Wonder what is on those tapes?......
Can you believe that Daley is defending AL SANCHEZ?????
Sanchez, when he was a Vrdolyak operative was buying off the El Rukn Street Gang (formerly the Black P Stone Rangers) into supporting Jane Byrne for Mayor with Larry Bullock.
Sanchez had more than one charge, court case, run in with the law.
You can google search them for verification.
If Daley is serious about stopping VIOLENCE, BAR FIGHTS, COVER UPS
He really should not be defending Al Sanchez.
Stroger and Sanchez and Chiefy (aka Thiefy) Delgado were close.
Sanchez used to have some of the same media people (read: liars) as Stroger.
The truth does not matter to these people.
It is ironic that the SUN TIMES story today on Al Sanchez and Mayor Daley was next to the comments about not fighting in a bar. Al Sanchez was charged, alleged on numerous times to drunk driving (Remember the Southtown article in 1999 or the Tollway incident in Sneed) drunken fights and violence.
It has already been in print about Gil Valadez termination, or the role in selling fake CDL's to unqualified truck drivers, or his ghost payrolling father in law living in Burbank but registering to vote in the 10th ward in an abandoned building and working for the city in violation of their residency requirement (the last on Dick Kay)
The Al Sanches that I remember (not the fantasy one that Daley remembers to send a message not to rat) was:
The Al Sanchez who was stuttering when asked about his father in law when he was appointed in 1999.
The Al Sanchez who was forced off the road by the "ghost car" and a series of bizarre events that made him crash into a bridge with a city car but no DUI test in Feb 1999.
The Al Sanchez I remember was the one who with State Rep Larry Bullock and than Alderman and Chariman of the Democratic Party Ed Vrdolyak bribed the El Rukn street gang (of Jeff Fort fame) to work for Jane Byrne for Mayor against Harold Washington (and Mayor Daley.
The Al Sanchez I remember was a regular at Martins Bar at 22nd Place and Hoyne where he was charged with battery and got into more than one fight and Chesdans on Archer or the old Alfos on Oakley. Stumbling drunk and getting into fights.
The Al Sanchez I remember was promising jobs, running HDO, being arrogant.
The Al Sanchez I remember was running the 1997 Danny Solis campaign promising jobs.
The Al Sanchez I remember ran the thugged out 1999 10th ward aldermanic and ran a racist campaign against his own people.
The Al Sanchez I remember ran the illegal 12th ward campaign against Ray Frias using gangs, intimidation, and taking city services--documented in the Tribune and the current Shakman suit.
The Al Sanchez I remember was a third rate Vrdolyak operative who got lucky when Tim Degnan brought him in to screw Fast Eddie through convicted felon Gilbert "Chiefy" Delgado".
WHAT IS DALEY REMEMBERING?
DIDN'T HE KNOW OR IS HE LYING?
The whole Stroger thing indicates how much the powers that be disrespect taxpayers.
The whole mob janitorial service is a joke and cost more money.
The County is so horrificly run it is a joke.
But nobody really cares.
How could anyone have voted for Todd Stroger. The whole process stank.
I would like to know more about how Steve Reynolds died. At least he wasn't bucked off a horse. Looks like they're finding better ways to off people now a days :)
Mayor Daley is spewing testimonials about Al Sanchez, hoping Sanchez won't sing like a canary and give the feds the testimony they need to indict Daley. It's as simple as that.
Will Al Sanchez take the fall for the Mayor? That is the billion-dollar question (citing the minimum amount the corruption in this city under Mayor Daley has cost Chicago taxpayers).
I like Todd Stroger. He didn't raise taxes! What's such a joke about him. I think he gets a bad rap. I mean the alleged "scandals" they are bringing up on him for only being in office for less than a half year is like one thousanth of what had occurred with George Ryan and Rich Daley. I think basically people don't like him because of the way he got elected. I didn't vote for him but I am amazed at the negativity about him concerning everything else that is occurring locally and nationally.
I think that Todd Stroger owes his victory to Cook County Commissioner Larry Sufferdin, It was Sufferdin who broke the bipartisan coalition to support Todd after his friend Bob (Indicted) Creamer gave him his orders. I just looked up on Il. Secretary of State Jesse Whites Lobbyist web site to see what clients this guy has other than the tobacco Firms and it was quit a large list just for 2006
