Barack Obama Presidential Library - Why Not at NIU?

What an idea!

The Chicago Tribune's prominent placement of Dennis Byrne's column on Governor Rod Blagojevich's plan to memorialize the Northern Illinois massacre by tearing down Cole Hall and spending $40 million to replace it and build an on-campus memorial inspires another idea.

Why not put the Barack Obama
Presidential Library there?

After all, Senator Obama went to the NIU massacre memorial service.

His presidential library doesn't have to be in Chicago. DeKalb is pretty close. The senator represents all of Illinois.

At least private donors would be picking up most of the cost.

And putting his presidential library in DeKalb would help change the image of the campus.

I'll have some thoughts about the NIU massacre memorial on McHenry County Blog on Wednesday and Thursday.

Getting a little ahead of ourselves, aren't we? He's not even the nominee yet, let alone the ex-President...

Will there be a "Hillary Hall"? Remember, she is an Illinois girl at heart. Or, maybe a "Tony Rezko
Wing"? Tony Soprano Stadium?

Anon 11:33, give the guy a break! It's a slow news day, after all.

That being said, assuming that Obama becomes President, eventually building the Barack Obama presidential Library at Northern Illinois University makes more sense to me than having the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library at Texas A & M University (as far as I know, there are no "Huskie Jokes"; you may wish to go to http://halife.com/files/aggie.html to find out why Texas A & M, the home of the Aggies, should never have been considered for a Presidential Library, save that for the current Chump in Chief).

I think it is a great idea. Gov. Rod can send a check for 40 million to the university, and if the wrong school gets the money, o well, another check will be in the mail. Works for a church why not a public university?
