Durbin's move to hush Rush

via The Hill,

“It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” said Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). “I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”
Durbin thinks we voters making bad decisions because we're not hearing both sides.

If such a vile bill should ever pass, I'm going be the first to sue the Tribune, Sun-Times, and nearly all "dead tree" media, not to mention CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, FOX, and all the rest for "equal time."

What an absurd proposition from the tiny-minded Senator from "People for the American Way."

I am impressed with the way the are able to airbrush out Ralph Neas' leash and collar out of every picture.

No, no, Bruno, Durbin will be on your show, every day, and you can ask him again and again what else he thinks he's being lied to about,

"The information we had in the intelligence committee was not the same information being given to the American people. I couldn't believe it," Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, said Wednesday when talking on the Senate floor about the run-up to the Iraq war in 2002.

"I was angry about it. [But] frankly, I couldn't do much about it because, in the intelligence committee, we are sworn to secrecy. We can't walk outside the door and say the statement made yesterday by the White House is in direct contradiction to classified information that is being given to this Congress."

Why would Sen. Durbin want to silence Cong. Rush?

What in the world does Bobby Rush have to do with this?

MSNBC recently reported that out of 145 reporters that donated money to a political group 125 of them gave money to DEMs 16 to REPublicans I wonder if Durbin is going to require reporters give money equally to both parties. Will news organizations be required to hire reporters that donate to republicans. Maybe we can finally get someone worth lisening to on NPR if they are forced to be fair. Lets see Durbin wants state control of health care and the media and to take away firearms from the people. I thought communism didnt work. Maybe DICK should move to china.

Maybe your average reporter is just smarter than some dingbat posting anonymously.

Can't rule that out.

Rush Limbaugh is a drug pusher who should be serving time in the penetentary rather than spewing nonsense on the radio.

If anything needs to be done is breakup all these wholesale consolidation of local newspaper, radio and television was an error did not serve the community.

The FCC is not for policing potty words. The FCC to make sure the airwaves are serving the local areas.

If a corporation like News Corp. can buy multiple media outlets in a single city or town, it gains immense influence over what information is available. Consolidated corporations strip local newsrooms of staff, while pushing aside competing points of view. That means less diversity of voices and a narrower range of debate.

Then, no one covers the news at the town hall. Then the town hall people start doing what ever they want.

Get real. Like Jesus Would Ever Own a Gun & Vote Republican.

"I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision."

Dick Durbin gives the false impression here that there are only two positions on every issue. That is simply not true–there are often three, four, and sometimes even more. I can only wonder if this is merely lip service or if Dick Durbin is also willing to support the inclusion of Greens and Libertarians; and others, such as Socialists, in presidential debates.

If you want something other than a party system start from bottom up. Not the top down.

This is the only way it going to be.
