Campton Hills’ Andy Griffith

Today's Daily Herald on the search for a Police Chief for the newly incorporated Village of Campton Hills,

Village officials said at a recent committee meeting that they envision a chief similar to the television character Andy Griffith.
Drive the roads of Kane County and you'll see crosses at almost every major intersection it seems; marking the lives lost to car crashes.

Joe Pena, former Chief of East Dundee, is one of the candidates. I heard him speak while he was running in the Republican Primary for Kane County Sheriff, and recall him saying that if incorporation was successful, to avoid the mediazation of crime when building our Police force. He said traffic would be our number one problem.

He was right. It's a literal killer here, and the talk about TV from our new board, with the ongoing slaughter is not very reassuring.

What has our county leadership and her transportion chairman done about this?

Now it is too little too late for the families that have lost loved ones.

Barb Wojnicki is an excellent county board member and has consistently called attention to the concerns of the district and Campton Township. Unfortunately her efforts were ignored for too long.

Barb Wojnicki asked questions about spending and giving contracts to political insiders.

She is not on the most favored list with the Chairman and the transportation chairman from Elburn.

Barb, keep doing your job. We know you are fighting for us.

Transportation safety experts estimate that about 70-80% of accidents are caused by human error or mechanical or safety failure of the vehicle.

Of the accidents that happened, and COULD be attributable to some roadway deficiency, how many happened on roads directly under the county's jurisdiction (state highways, local streets and township roads are excluded).

Maybe the county board should personally escort the citizens of Campoton Hills through their community in Hummers at 20 mph.

We won't have the Kane County Sheriff to patrol roads in Campton soon. We're a new Village and need to come up with our own police.

Getting Andy Griffith to do the job just doesn't seem quite up to the task, even for a Village like this.

I suggest Phil Cline, he will need a job one of these days.

Why is the county board chairman announcing a bid for re-election at a private corporation? Why in a place where citizen commentary will not be welcome.

What other local political figures held their announcement at a private corporation?

Ready made audiences?

Only one national figure in Kane County used to do that to avoid protesters.

Times have sure changed.
