Trib: Busted by Bloggers: or maybe Coburn Obama vs Byrd Stevens?

Well, the Trib gives bloggers some credit, and now we know the two Senators putting a hold on our Obama.

Note the blog that appears to have outed Byrd.

Talking Points Memo.

A decidedly left-leaning site.

Just worth pointing out.

It's a really a bi partisan issue... it's interesting to see how blogs worked here... everyone writing their Rep and bringing so much pressure everyone had to fess up until we got to the last two holdouts.

Isn't Oklahoma Republican U.S. Senator Tom Colburn, the primary sponsor of the bill?

Yes, so is Obama. A bipartisan good idea, kind of like McCain/Feingold campaign finance reform.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a diehard Democrat and I've just about had enough of Robert Byrd. He has a questionable voting record at best and certainly a questionable past.

If the Tribune would do its job, this wouldn't have come through the blogs. It is interesting to note that the Trib never reported on the Bill to begin with, only reporting on the reaction. When the story commends bloggers for outting Byrd and Stevens, it neglects to condemn the Tribune for blacking out the story.

Bipartisan is good in this case. But McCain Feingold is a flat out violation of the 1st ammendent, virtually guaranteeing incumbents get re-elected.

I think Byrd and Stevens are the two longest serving Senators.

It's time for both to go.

Now, I do wish Obama had not raised money for Byrd... we see how that gets paid back.

I had my fill of Byrd -- the man who regularly waived a battered copy of the Constitution like a prop -- even before he supported John Roberts and Samuel Alito. But his supporting such a drastic change in the Supreme Court and the resulting interpretation of that Constitution broke this camel's back.

But I have enjoyed sharing my thoughts on Sen. Byrd -- e.g. "Cram it." -- via the return envelopes that have accompanied his appeals for funds.
