Sometimes I enjoy watching cable access...

Just about every weekend morning from about 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM I watch this slot on Chicago Access Network Channel 19. This slot has programming where often I would see programming hosted by blacks that are live call-in programs. Usually the topic of discussion is politics and issues as pertaining to blacks living in Chicago.

This weekend was interesting. On Saturday morning was a program called Daleyland. This is a somewhat frequent programs that might air maybe 4 or more times a year hosted by Eugene Mathews. He would have a co-host who on this day was a man named Boyse Edwards (I'll talk about him in a minute).

In any case this show usually laments the policies of Mayor Richard M. Daley and his control over city politics. On this day they didn't talk much about Daley for the most part they steered clear of Daley. The show revolved around President Bush, the shutdown of a federal courthouse in downtown Chicago, the recent incident involving a police officer involved with a drug ring, and then the issue of illegal immigration. In any case there is an indication that the show will return in August hopefully I'll be able to tune in.

On Sunday was a live call-in program produced by Jamm Right Productions called the B-Corner. This was hosted by the aforementioned Boyse Edwards who for the first half hour had as his guest, Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica. He talked about the current race for county board president mostly and the wrangling involved with figuring out what to do about the sickness of John Stroger.

Peraica says that the board has difficulty agreeing on anything let alone if Stroger should be removed and replaced. Even went so far as to saying that the Democrats on the County Board disregarding the advice of their fellow Democrat State's Attorney Dick Devine who suggested that John Stroger could be replaced temporarily.

He even talked about an impromptu press conference he had in city hall where according to him he was no where near the floor of the council but was in another room nearby. Apparently he was responding to a statement made in the city council by Ald. Todd Stroger with regards to his father's health. Saying that John Stroger was on a feeding tube to name one thing I recall correctly. Anyway eventually this conference was cut short when some police asked him to leave. Peraica even said he was almost about ready to box.

So anyway this segment ended with Peraica talking about why he should be elected. He didn't seem to make it clear that he wanted to be elected. Just said a line about vote for me for change or vote for the status quo. But he did say about one true statement, it's a shame that 24% of Cook County residents can vote while a much higher number of Iraqis can go out and vote in the middle of a war.

The programs that I see everynow and then, seem to have more black public official on then I'd see on more mainstream outlets. I think that on Beyond the Beltway one time Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. was lamenting that the media never seems to talk to him about other issues other than black issues. They never talk to him about say economic issues and education and it's definitely not like he's educated (he does have a Bachelor's, a Master in Divinity, and a jurist doctorate). Either way watching Chicago Access Network seems to be the main why I can connect with the city's black officials.

Jesse Jackson Jr does not have a JD.
Jesse Jackson is not dumb but he is also not that bright.
He is immature and arrogant.

The Avila family has like 50 shows a week on CAN.

Neil actually Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. does have a JD from the University of Illinois School of Law. And here's his bio where you can read it for yourself. Next time before you talk, know what you're talking about.

Why does there have to be a program about issues pertaining to blacks in Chicago? Why wouldn't there just be a program about Chicago hosted by blacks, with issues that pertain to ALL people from Chicago?

If Jesse Jackson Jr has a law degree did he pass the bar? And why is he so igorant of basic let alone Constitutional law?

I was watching Cable Acess and Cong Rev Jackson had a TV show on AID/Black Homosexuals and a response to the Down Low book that was popular at bookstores and talk shows. It was a bizarre show.
Cong Jackson seemed to be going against everything Rev's Meeks and Hatch stand for. The guy he was interviewing looked like his bizarre aid that blows everyone off and lies, a bald guy named Vincent Fry. Don't think they were the same guy but it was bizarre. A lot of Cable Access is really good including WL Lillard, Munir Mohammad, Eugene Matthews, Clifton Bradley, Boyse, Kofi Malik, among others that give a different perspective.
Cong Jackson is a far left really mainstream liberal. His daddy is bought and sold by corporate America. His bizarre Cable Access show on homosexuality reveals his out of touch with the African American community and his own either personal or public policy extremism and lack of logic.

While Rev and Cong Jackson joint book is:
"It's about the money"
It should be from a moral point of view
"It's about the PEOPLE"

The Jacksons with Budweiser, and babies out of wedlock, assassin brothers and uncles connected to the El Rukns, connections to drug dealers, using non for profits for politics in violation of the law, and exploiting other groups, and really after all these years what good have they actually done?????
Congressman Jackson is a liteweight not ready for prime time who will be revealed.

Anon 2:31PM-I'm not totally sure what you are asking. If there are issues that affect blacks then perhaps there should be a forum where blacks can talk about such issues. Same for any other group. That being said nothing stops an individual of another ethnic or racial group from calling in. Of course perhaps the issues that affect black can affect all the people of Chicago.

Anon 3:28PM-You can get your law degree and then not even take the bar. There are those who've had to take the bar several times after graduating with a law degree. Indeed there are those who have failed to pass the bar after getting their law degrees and have chosen to not try again. I can't answer your question about his ignorance of ConLaw. I've seen what he has proposed to the US Constitution and I would definitely not agree.

I love Cable Access. It is not just for African Americans.

The Avila family has a ton of shows, Commish Sr., Frank Jr, his mom who is part Irish, the Coalition for Honest Government, a bunch of religious groups Catholic, Methodist, African Americans, Mexicans, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts--- I love their shows.

The Avila's are very pro-Jesse Jackson and Sen. Meeks and they have been on their shows. Avila Jr. said on the show he supports Meeks for governor and Jackson for Mayor. I have been to Rainbow PUSH with Jack, Walter and the Avila's on more than one occassion.
I also love Salome she is great. Avila Jr. and Jackson are two of the best Constitutional scholars out their today and the only ones in the African American and Hispanic communities working together in unity and also for the underdog.

The great thing about Cable Access is that they talk longer than the 30 second sound bites about politics. It does not have to be politically correct. You get alternative voices, call in shows, and issues that you did not know about previously. Not just politics, but dance, fashion, cars, music, neighborhood stuff, religions, Christians, Muslims, Afro-centric, Spanish, Bilingual, Serbian, Haitian, even conservatives, pro-gun, libertarian, pro and anti-homosexual rights, pro and anti choice/life. You get a lot of good stuff. Frank Avila Jr. and Morgan Carter had Bob Cooley the informant on the mob. Avila Sr and Jr had Obama on a bunch of times.

Morgan Carter and Omnibus Roundtable and Barney Mohammad talk about real estate, economic opportunity--they are great.
Different perspectives on Immigration.

Cable Access is a great service and one that should be promoted more.

Jackson is smart. He needs some more balls. But no one can deny he is smart, articulate, and charismatic. This Mayor's race is his to lose but he has the wrong people around him.

I like Jesse Jr. I saw him talk at the VFW hall with Frank Coconate. I am Italian and would vote for Jesse Jr. I know a lot of Dom and Rons CBG guys who would support him too. Jesse Jr may not be the smartest guy but he is smarter than Richie Daley. Richie Daley can barely put two sentences together. Jesse Jr. is articulate but he does talk too much about just Black people and the airport but I think he listens and has good people like Coconate and Longo around him to guide him right.

CAN TV can have some crazies, but it does have some good shows,
and it is a window into a more Afro-centric TV world especially with politics, I don't just want opinions from big corporations, and the same people

Many of the Congressmen from the inner city have voted for the COPE ACT, House of Representatives passed the COPE Act of 2006 (Communications Opportunity, Promotion, and Enhancement) earlier this month, hailed as major telecommunications reform by telephone companies
This bill will hurt inner city people who use public access to get the word out on issues. if you want more information go to the CANTV web site http://www.cantv.org

Congressman Jesse Jackson JR. the scion of the ultimate hustle voted AGAINST increased public acess television and with the big companies, this is an example of Jesse Jr. voting against his own people and with corporate america.
Thanks Jesse JR. for selling us all out.

I love the program Underground Railroad with Clifton Bradley, the show is on Saturday nights at 10:30 PM. Clifton is a Iraq war Vet who also happens to be a Muslim, He brings an insightful perspective of whats going on in the Middle East right now.

The ironic part of this post is that Jesse Jackson Jr. hurt Cable Access Network Television, the very medium he claims he can get more info on. Jesse Jackson Jr. does not have the gravitas, he is immature, self absorbed, arrogant, and does not have the grass roots support to take on someone like Daley. His own base is mad at him for not supporting Stoger.
He was a real loser this election cycle with Dian Powell, Rev Hatch for alderman, Forest Claypool for President, Thepedau for Judge ALL LOSERS, Jesse claims he has all winners with multi millionaires like Larry Rogers but he lost his judge candidates, his two Commissioners for County board and went against Stroger
Jesse Jr is an arrogant LOSER

Congressman Jackson is intelligent, and he certainly is a great talker, I have seen some great speeches,
He does know Constitutional law, but he is of a more liberal bent, moreso than myself, but I think he makes some good points,
there are some problems with entitlements
but also the Federalist states rights issues, I think I saw him on C-Span talking about a new "revolution" in Constitutional rights in education and housing
there are some socialistic tendencies but
that doesn't mean the Congressman Jackson doesn't know constitutional law or isn't smart
Congressman Jackson is smart and knows constitutional law but he has a particular point of view and it is too the left of most modern American discourse

Vincent Fry was not the homosexual talking about AIDS and the Down Low Brothers (from the book)

Vincent Fry is some guy that blows people off and lies to them for the Congressman. Somehow, the Congressman thinks this unknown is helping him but is amplyifying his perception that he is arrogant and inacessabile.

Vincent Fry is hurting the Congressman and is not a real player in Chicago or National politics. Congressman Jackson needs to get some real operators around him or he will continue to be beaten up on his single issue airport.

Jeff Berkowitz who does his show in the suburbs also broadcasts on CANTV, it took a while to get used to his style but I think Berkowitz asks harder questions than the regular media, Berkowith has the best political show on cable TV.

Jeff Berkowitz is God.

Vince Fry is a joke. He is the self important pompous idiot who acts like he is protecting and the go between between the pompous Jackson. They look like two peas in a pod and are so selfish, self absorbed, and silly looking. Thank God Richie Daley is Mayor.
With Jackson and his arrogant goof squad, the city would become like Detroit.

Jackson has a divinity degree?
LOL
No wonder no one respects the clergy no more
The Church of the divine hustle
poverty pimping high liturgy at nine

Vincent Fry is Jesse Jackson Jr's bitch or vice versa. Jesse Jr. is bisexual which is the reason or a symptom of his bizarre bipolar behavior. He is definitely delusional with fits of grandeur, he thinks he is a prince and not a Congressman.
