And Giuliani in town for McSweeney

This visit completely missed my radar screen until I read Tom Roeser singing Giuliani's praises.

But I’ve got to tell you: this guy Giuliani has magnetism. I feel about him as I would from the gut. From my gut I think John McCain, though a hero, is something like a cardboard pop-up. The same with everybody else who’s mentioned for president-except.
Republicans are just a bigger tent. I can't imagine a Democratic activist in this state gushing over a National Democrat who was pro-life and supported preserve marriage amendment. They'd hound him or her right out of the party.

Yep, the Republican tent is a pretty big place. Even Ann Coulter fits in.

What you say about the Democrats is true. Probably less true the more local you get. Nationally there doesn't seem to be much difference amongst them.

Ever hear of a guy named Harry Reid? He's in the Senate. Sort of a big deal among Demoorats.

When the Republicans put a pro-choice candidate on the Pres. ticket, then you can talk. Until then, it is ridiculous.

At least the GOP let pro-choicers speak at their convention. The same can't be said for the other party. The guy from PA, CAsey is another dem hope who happens to be pro-life. It doesn't hurt that he is a former gov's son, but those two reasons are the only reasons why they have embraced him to oppose Santorum. Your premise is ridiculous.

Harry Reid is pro-life ... is he enough of a nationally significant Dem for ya?

Anon 8:21pm -- The only reason so many 'pro-choicers' spoke at the '04 convention was to hide the James Dobsons and Rick Santorums out of the limelight.

Putting so few ahead of the vast many ticked off more than a few conservatives.

Harry Reid has fallen in with the same liberal montage over and over. Nobody cares that he is pro-life, because it is not like he stands up for it. He much more likely to play politics with his bung-hole than take a dump....

Thanks for your wit and intelligence.

Looks like LL started drinking early today.

Bill,

I haven't read a single thing that you've posted here that's remotely accurate. If you thinkl the GOP has a bigger tent than the Dems, you're head is stuck somewhere where the sun isn't shining.

At the very least, your posts on domestic poilitics show a naivity that is frankly sad for someone your age.

Roeser's a Giuliani enthusiast smartman.

I think Giuliani has a chance to be the "R" candidate in 2008.

More chance than Reid or any other pro life Democrat to be the "D" candidate.

Maybe I'm jaundiced having voted Democrat from McGovern to Kerry and then find myself being called a fascist by folks for suggesting its worth supporting Democracy in Iraq, or that people who think marriage should be between one man and one woman aren't also gay bashers.... I'll argue in favor of same sex marriage with conservatives and invariable get a respectful hearing.

It takes all of a three minutes before the fascist word is used when I'm with self professed liberals (and I spend a lot of time with them).

They're killing the Democratic Party, my old college, my Church... it's an amazing thing to see.

not Kerry, Gore... Gore was the last Democrat I voted for... I couldn't stand the way Bush made jokes about himself when I was following UBL....

...then there was my vote for George Ryan because I thought Glen Poshard was too much the social conservative.

Do you mean Jack Abramhoff's Harry Reid or is there some other Harry Reid of NV?
