$550,000 for paper shredders.

I kid you not. (Via Dan Curry.)

State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) wants to know why the state plans to spend $550,000 on paper shredders in light of budget concerns, ongoing federal investigations and recent reports that a Governor's employee was fired when she refused to shred documents.

You know the saying about giving a bottle of whiskey and the car keys to a teenager? I'd say "giving" $550,000 worth of paper shredders to a Blagojevich administration under investigation is pretty similar.

Wonder how much G-Ry spent on shredders...

This kinda reminds me of all the talking heads who joked about Howard Dean spending so many thousand dollars on pizza before the Iowa caucus -- maybe it's a legit expense and you, Curry and that guy who lost in the GOP primary are just pulling it out of context.

Maybe. Just sayin'.

Evidently, GRyan didn't buy enough shredders did he? With all those campaign contributors and campaign workers and campaign contributor's freinds and family, you'd think they'd have enough hands around to rip up evidence, err, I mean sensitive payroll records that shouldn't be orinted to begin with.

It must be lonely trying to shill for Blagojevich these days. $1/2 million for paper shredders is badly needed when they are behind at least a billion in healthcare payments? The sad part is you are serious.

What the h-ll kind of paper shredders are they buying for this money - gold plated ones??? You can buy a shredder anywhere, cross-cut at that, for under $100. Or is it like the joke featured previously in this blog - psst, $275,000 for you, $275,000 for me and $5,000 to the office store.

Once the current administration is involved in their forthcoming legal problems, the legislature in this state needs to vote in some sort of petty cash fund for state agencies. Buying a shredder for $500 each which Staples or Sam's Club sells for $79.95 is a total waste of taxpayers money. We are already getting the shaft on much of what goes one down on Capital Avenue, why add fuel to the fire?

That's a lot of paper to shred.
