GOPUSA ILLINOIS Daily Clips - July 11, 2008

OBVIOUS: NEEDLESS-TO-SAY: Because the Illinois Republican Party platform opposes expansion of gambling, all elected officials who ran as a Republican should always vote against expansion of gambling.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: (Cross) will unveil a House GOP "Agenda for Action" Tuesday. The seven-point agenda advocates: A capital program to fix roads and bridges, build schools and hospitals, and create 700,000 jobs. A balanced budget, ending carryover of unpaid bills into the next year, and a minimum "sunshine" period for everyone to examine budget bills. Property tax relief. Ethics legislation to end the state's "pay-to-play" scandals. Reversing Blagojevich's years of cutting higher ed funding. Electronic monitoring of abusive men to protect victims of domestic violence. WHEATON SUN
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Outrageously, the Wheaton Sun shows its bias against Republicans, again. Wheaton Sun reporter Hank Beckman reported that Democrat Jill Morgenthaler participated in Wheaton's Independence Day parade and that he interviewed Democrat Lisa Madigan and Republican Peter Roskam about the parade. But outrageously, Beckman failed to report that Republicans Birkett, Bucholz, Eckhoff, Fortner, Hultgren, Kachiroubas, McBride, Muehlfelt, Olson, Suess, and Whelan and the Milton Township Republican Central Committee participated in the parade. When he completed his interview of Madigan, I gave Beckman a parade flyer that announced that Republicans Birkett, David Carlin, Roger Claar, Kirk Dillard, Eckhoff, Fortner, Gwen Henry, Hultgren, Gary King, McBride, Olson, and Phil Suess sponsored the Chicago Highlanders and that Republicans Mary Jo Arndt, Michael Connelly, Bob Larsen, Darlene Ruscitti, Whelan, and John Zaruba sponsored Cub Scout Pack 64 which carried banners for parade entries. But outrageously, Beckman did not include that in his article. Beckman failed to report that Republican Kachiroubas won the award for best political entry and that the Chicago Highlanders won the award for best musical entry. Also, Beckman failed to report that parade participants who starting the day with a "Stars & Stripes Breakfast" at the Wheaton History Center on the parade route included Republicans Fortner and Whelan. - Dave Diersen

ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS
-- DIERSEN HEADLINE: VERY SAD: Republican Michael Prueter gave $200 to Democrat Dianne McGuire on January 26, 2008
http://www.elections.state.il.us/CampaignDisclosure/ItemizedContrib.aspx
(DIERSEN: Needless-to-say, GOPUSA ILLINOIS is always saddened whenever it receives information that a Republican candidate, Republican elected official, Republican Party leader, or Republican organization has given money to a Democrat candidate, Democrat elected official, Democrat party leader, or Democrat organization. It has long been GOPUSA ILLINOIS policy to bring that information to its subscribers' attention because giving money to Democrats conflicts with advancing the Republican Party platform. GOPUSA ILLINOIS is more than happy to bring to its subscribers' attention any explanation it receives for why the money was given.)
