"Bean is a coward, plain and simple."
That's what Marathon Pundit John Ruberry concluded after he learned that tonight 8th District Democratic Party Congresswoman Melissa Bean is holding a telephone town meeting.
Ruberry just happened to be listening to Mancow Muller's WLS-AM show and heard about the telephone town meeting.
He wrote this story, from which the sentence I have used for a headline has been extracted.
When Ruberry tried to sign up, he was told he couldn't.
Only those folks who had participated in past telephone town hall meetings were allowed to participate.
There is an "in person" opportunity to hear Bean this month...if you have $25 and belong to one of the chambers of commerce which are sponsoring it.
Don't you love how representatives of the "Party of the People" treat the people?

Actually, the "cowards" are the people who come to the town hall meetings to disrupt, stereotype and antagonize. They are not interested in listening to different points of view, exchanging ideas and working towards common ground to address the health care issues in our country.
Seems to me that our US reps should be able to help disruptive jerks find their way to the exit. Democracy demands that our elected reps make themselves available to their constituents. However, both parties have their cowards - Judy Biggert, my congresswoman, also closed her town hall meeting to any non-resident of a tiny town of 1,000 in her district. See the article in the Hinsdale Doings - http://www.pioneerlocal.com/hinsdale/news/1710607,hi-biggertmeet-081109-s1.article. Evidently, it's not the only meeting she's restricted attendance to, see the comments under that story. It seems like none of them want to face tough questions. I suspect that the issues are so complex that most of them haven't done enough homework to know how to answer difficult questions, except with party talking points. The usual hot air just won't work. Any wonder why Congress gets no respect?
So, let's not let partisanship get in the way of the truth - if Bean's a coward, so is Biggert. It's all very disappointing.
