The Chicago Ron Paul Ralley
Nothing about the Ralley for Paul in MSM as far as I can google.
I think people are under estimating him and he's going to make some unhappy folks who otherwise would have pulled a Dem ballot in the primaries pull a GOP one instead (to what effect further down the ticket who knows, but I think he could impact IL-14 where I think Paul's ideas have some appeal to younger people).
This stuff is simply going to appeal to a certain segment of folks who don't adhere to the abstract voter a lot of junkies here have in their heads.
Ron Paul may not score any points with the neo conservative empire builders or the major corporations that are building fortunes thanks to our aggressive empire building. But the average American can see the benefit to having a President that follows the rule of law and the Constitution.Roeser has a long column on the event. Both parties will reformulate their premises and principles. Roeser writes the view from the GOP side, but I think Dems will face the issues and Ron Paul pretty neatly sums up the anger.
There is a lot to be angry about with Illinois Politics and I think this guy is going to have more impact than some think.

Roeser's hateful hit-piece is the kind of trash that will only inspire more people to support Congressman Paul. Where does TOM ROESER get off criticizing the way people look, anyway? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...

He gave Paul more ink then anyone in MSM. I think that's because no one in MSM knows how to peg Paul.
So they ignore him...
Now, neigbor, your in Il-14th too... you pull a GOP ballot, who else you going to vote for downline...
Now, now, should we be so bitter just because Mr. Roeser doesn't have an adequate optical care plan?
Bill,
For Ron Paul to poll over 3-8% in any election, it would require a cataclysmic political event. (Something on the order of a "Black Swan" event - check the book title)
What is the groundwork that will allow for such an event?
As mentioned, there isn't enough news coverage, money, mind space, market share, etc etc for such a thing to happen.
Give me a reasonably empirically plausible event/change that effectively changes the political dynamic.
(Say Move On endorses Paul, and puts him over the top in New Hampshire)
THAT may turn out to be a meaningful event. Paul getting even 10-15% in a primary is not.
Though not entirely a "declinist" (America is in decline and failing), I see serious problems.
Our population has become effectively dumbed down by the schools, the number of people who care about their stake in society has declined, and those left making decisions are not given the information needed to make good decisions. Worse yet, too many people have too big a stake in undermining our economic future for their personal benefit (Corporations and Public Pension Pigs share culpability)
I'm not a Paul supporter, but I'd love for him to "break out" for the sole purpose of shaking things up.
I just don't see it happening.
Short of Bill Gates or Warren Buffet literally purchasing the creation of a competitive 3rd party that triangulates the corruption out of the current system, I think we are in for a long, slow drift into a Euro-Style welfare state.
Going to disagree with you Bill.
The Mainstream Media is covering Ron Paul's campaign in Chicago.

The Fringe Media is ignoring it, so they can cover a baby being born with the name "Wrigley"

The Mainstream Media is also covering Richard Caro's lawsuit against Gov Blagojevich

Whilte the Fringe Media is ignoring the constitutional case agains Blagojevich so it can track down the "great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather" of Barack Obama (a respected warrior, no less, we are told!)

Does anyone know the relationship between the Paul campaign and those "love revolution" signs that have been posted around Chicago? These hand-painted signs say "rLOVEution" (or something like that) and "ronpaul2008.com" Is that an official part of his message, or is someone messing with his outreach?
There is an article and pictures of the rally and demonstration afterwards on McHenry County Blog.
