USA TODAY
-- Gay marriage victory at Supreme Court triggering backlash - Richard Wolf  (DIERSEN: Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. Who is going to represent Illinois on the 2016 RNC Platform and Resolutions Committee?  Of course, needless-to-say, if they have not pledged to support each and every plank in the 2016 Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform and if their entire life history does not show that they support each and every plank the 2016 IRP platform, THERE WILL BE AN EXTREMELY BIG BACKLASH FROM ILLINOIS REPUBLICANS INCLUDING FROM THE 782 (79.5%) DELEGATES WHO STOOD UP FOR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE AT THE 2016 IRP STATE CONVENTION.)

-- FRONT PAGE IN THE NAPERVILLE SUN: More than 300 Naperville employees earn $100,000 or more - Genevieve Bookwalter  (DIERSEN: When did you first start earning more than $100,000 in today's dollars?  I first started earning $101,897 (GS-13 Step 4) in today's dollars in 1989.  In my defense, I had worked for the federal government for almost 22 years - 10 for GAO, 9 for IRS, and 3 for the Post Office.  I had become a licensed CPA in 1982, a Certified Internal Auditor in 1981, and a CPA in 1979.  I had earned a master's degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and a bachelor's degree in management from NIU in 1970.)    http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/naperville-sun/news/ct-nvs-naperville-salaries-st-0530-20160527-story.html

-- HARDCOPY ARTICLE TITLE IN THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Yes, there are immigrants for Trump - Kate Linthicium  (DIERSEN: Of course, those who came to America illegally, who stay in America illegally, and/or bring others to America illegally oppose Trump.  Of course, those who do not respect America's immigration laws oppose Trump.  Of course those who are anti-American oppose Trump.)  http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-asian-voters-20160527-snap-story.html

DAILY HERALD
-- FRONT PAGE TOP OF FOLD: Will fantasy sports prevail where casinos, horse racing have not? - Mary Hansen  (DIERSEN: Gambling is a vice. If you promote gambling, you promote vice.  Many, if not most of my critics/opponents promote gambling, that is, they promote vice. Almost always, sooner or later, if you promote one vice, you promote all vices.)

-- Public vetting of candidates? In many cases, don't count on it - Jim Davis  (DIERSEN: Government is nasty.  Politics is nasty.  If you are considering seeking a government office or a political office, and especially if you are Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owner, and/or if your ancestors have been in America for a long time, SOONER OR LATER, YOUR CRITICS/OPPONENTS WILL VICIOUSLY DEMONIZE, VICIOUSLY DENIGRATE, AND VICIOUSLY CONDEMN YOU AND EVERYTHING THAT YOU DID OR DID NOT DO DURING YOUR LIFETIME.)http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20160528/discuss/160528760/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Ever wonder how our local school boards operate when filling a vacancy by appointment, something often necessitated by a midterm resignation. Wouldn't you think, given the appointee will become a public official and enjoy the advantage of incumbency if he/she runs for election, that process would be a public one? One in which the names of the candidates are released to the public, perhaps with a little biographical data? Wouldn't you think there might be a public vetting of the candidates? I mean, isn't that what's supposed to happen when an election occurs? Oh, you're so naive. It's usually a close-to-the-vest process in which we often don't get the names of the candidates until the decision is pretty much cast in stone and school board approval is a formality. A quick survey of editors and education reporters confirmed that theory. The occasion for my theorizing was word that 19 residents in Glen Ellyn Elementary District 41 were sufficiently interested in public service that they applied to fill a school board vacancy. That's an almost-unheard of number for a small elementary district. But District 41 has had its share of challenges.)

CHAMPAIGN/URBANA NEWS GAZETTE
-- State budget fiasco widens  It's always darkest just before things get worse.  (DIERSEN: Obviously, Illinois Democrats want to balance the state budget by dramatically raising taxes on Illinois Republicans, and especially on Illinois Republicans who are Protestant, conservative, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, and/or those whose ancestors have been in Illinois for a long time.)

BLOOMINGTON PANTAGRAPH
-- 'Budget' has clear definition  A budget, according to Dictionary.com is "an estimate, often itemized, of expected income and expense for a given period in the future.’’ - Editorial  (DIERSEN: Is your budget balanced?  The cost of living in Wheaton is extremely high. Increasingly, the Diersen budget is not balanced.  Increasingly, we make up the deficit by drawing down our non-retirement savings. We would have no deficit if my Democrat superiors in the federal government had not wasted my career and forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old.)

GAO hired me in 1980 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job.
