Cong. Jan Schakowsky: Pot, kettle, black

Crossposted at Marathon Pundit.

This Hill cartoon is on Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky's campaign web site--right on top as I write this post. The Illinois Democrat, my representative in Congress, joins other liberals criticizing those corrupt Republicans.

Meanwhile in Evanston, her husband, Democratic activist Robert Creamer(not the baseball author) awaits sentencing for bank fraud and tax violations. Creamer drew the attention of federal authorities after a tax kiting scheme was discovered while Creamer was running the Illinois Public Action Council, a consumer advocacy group. While those airborne checks were being circulated, Schakowsky was serving on the board of directors of IPAC.

Jan Schakowsky has not been implicated in any wrongdoing in regards to her husband's financial misdeeds.

Creamer was politically active in his own right, serving as a high-paid campaign consultant for Democrats Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, and Rock Island Congressman Lane Evans, among others.

Since the mainstream media hasn't jumped on Jan's hypocrisy, it's up to this citizen-journalist to flash the yellow card here.

Since you've started a culture of corruption post here, let me add a link to the just released report on Cisneros.

The press release tells us it's another case where Clinton Administration got away with it,

This has been a long and difficult investigation. It is my hope that people will read the entire Report and draw their own conclusions. An accurate title for the Report could be, “WHAT WE WERE PREVENTED FROM INVESTIGATING.”

After a thorough reading of the Report it would not be unreasonable to conclude as I have that there was a coverup at high levels of our government and, it appears to have been substantial and coordinated. The question is why? And that question regrettably will go unanswered. Unlike some other coverups, this one succeeded.

That is sadly true.

Russ Stewart had a great article about Jan Schakowsky and her other political friend Bill Marovitz. Marovitz took $65,728.81 out of his campain for personal use. I guess if you have a non-paying position like state central committeeman might as well pay your self out of your campaigh funds. Bill said it is fine because he paid taxes on the money. I love our America, Patrick McDonough.

I would like to encourage you and any other political junkie out there who wants to be able to ask Creamer (or Cong. Schakowsky) when his delayed sentencing hearing is to be held (it had originally been set for December 21; obviously it has been delayed) to catch them on Sunday afternoon. That is when the Democratic Party of Evanston holds its endorsement session for the 2006 Democratic Primary.

This (often unintentionally) entertaining event will be held at
the Beth Emet Synagogue, 1224 Dempster St (located on the southwest corner of Dempster & Ridge) in central Evanston, just two blocks from the Creamer-Schakowsky home.

The report by Mr. Ruberry does not shock me in the least. I have known for a long time what hypocrites Schakowsky and Creamer are. It's nice to see that others are finally taking notice of the truth.

The coverage of Creamer and Schakowsky is mind boggling. On "conservative" AM560 Creamer was noted as "Evanston Buinsesman Robert Creamer" when he plead guilty to his hi-jinks. No mention of his lobbying. No mention that his wife is a US Congressman.

NPR 91.5 ran the same story, claiming that Creamer was some king of businessman with his hand in the till, never mentioning his wife. I called their newsdesk and mentioned to a stunned reporter that Creamer and Schakowksy were husband and wife. The reporter said "I can't believe that. Why wasn't that in the news story?"

A hat tip to 91.5. On the next half-hourly update they mentioned that Creamer was as lobbyist, admitted felon and husband of our Congresswoman.

I am also amazed that Bill Marovitz, a Schakowsky sidekick, forget to read Russ Stewarts column about some additional money Bill provided himself from his political warchest. Alex Armour must be doing flip flops. State Central Committeeman is a "Paying Position"? Patrick McDonough

Does anyone know what prison Robert Creamer was sent to?

Mr. Creamer is due to be sentenced this Friday, Feb. 17, at 10:00 am according to the US District Court's website. At least a hearing is scheduled at that time.
