Back To His Day Job

The best Patrick Fitzgerald quote after the Scooter Libby decision (in a story written by Chicago Tribune reporters Rudolph and Matt O’Connor, but found in a Syracuse Post-Sentinel web site and no where to be found on the Tribune web site just before midnight):

We're all going back to our day jobs.
Some of us think Fitzgerald was assigned the Libby case merely to get him out of Chicago so the prosecutions of corruption would be delayed.

Or, is that too conspiratorial?

We still don't know if Plame an outed agent. We don't now what her status was at CIA.

We don't know Cheney or Bush's role in any of it.

We don't know why charges never brought against Armitage.

We don't know if there was a crime to perjur oneself over.

Pretty poor job for a guy who was supposed to get answers for those questions.

We do know how how level appointed people (who unlike reg folks, can't plead the 5th) should handle a Grand Jury: Libby stonewalled and Rove asked to return to clarify anything the jurers wanted.

That seemed poor advice from the lawyers at the time for Rove to put himself at risk like that (you're alone before the GJ, your lawyer can't come in with you)... but it sure looks wise now.

A Rovian conspiracy tied with a Daley conspiracy? Sweeeeeeet

Dan,

It can only mean that Mayor Daley's limitless out - reach to Obvious Combine guys like Novack, Scooter, the Skull & Bones, Olympia Saboni, Cuts Abolgne, Buck-Shot Dick Cheney, The Northside Pool-guy, Tony Orlando and Dawn and the Colgate Men's Choir will only bring down more pain on the Boutique Citizenry of the Redline and pile more coal for Comrade Ben's tirelss efforts.

Praise Mercies that Pat Fitz is still with us - of course so are the Al Quaeda lads that he gave a pass to some years back.

I find it amusing that I'm both a big fan of Karl Rove and a big fan of Mayor Daley.

But this brings up some interesting issues. Meigs field was so Karl Rove.

P.S. Free Scooter!

Now, if we can get a Free Hi-Low Flyer - sign me up!

I just finished reading an absolutely riveting book on Paddy Fitz' handling of Al Queada operatives - tough jacket that Fitz has been able to avoid slipping on - thanks to our deep-thinkers in the media.

Nobody cares about corruption--perhaps unfortunately.

Dan--Karl Rove is the big anti-Stem Cell research guy (is he Mormon?)

Meigs Field was good for business (albeit micro), aviation, and safety. What Daley did was illegal--but nobody cares.

The Daley/Rove/Bush/Skull and Crossbones connection may be a stretch BUT I do think US Attorneys have backed off investigations before. But maybe I should go back to the grassy knoll and stop being conspiratorial.

Daley has been a good Mayor, but there is a lot of corruption.
There is corruption at the Federal and even prosecutorial level--but that is beyong my paygrade and there is not much I can do AND Nobody really cares.
