Ode to the Campaigner

To all campaigners, everyone who's ever managed a phone bank, supervised a field canvass, battled rain or snow or sweat putting up yard signs, or listened to a candidate whine about how hard THEY are working for six months and then bask alone on the stage:

"The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights."
