The state has provided another short-term funding fix -- CTA® and Pace will operate full schedules on Monday, Nov. 5th -- but we still need a permanent fix to regional transit funding!
Help make it clear that supporting and expanding transit is critical to the region's future. Join the rally at the Thompson Center Plaza on Monday at noon to demand an end to funding band-aids!What: A rally to expand transit - and hold our elected officials accountable! When: Monday, November 5th at Noon Where: Thompson Center Plaza (Randolph/Clark in the Loop)
I won't be there but hopefully someone will give a record of what happened there.
It would be quite refreshing for these groups to rally to pay for the services they enjoy themselves, rather than campaigning for others to pay for their luxury.

@JBP - are you serious?
ReplyDeleteRiders do pay fares, and we all pay in taxes because we all benefit from transit. Mass transit is not a luxury - it is a vital public service for a city and region of our size.
Ha,
ReplyDeleteWas stuck on the El for 35 minutes today, so am not really interested in your horsesh*t.
Mass transit is a terribly run luxury over 50% paid for by the taxpayers so that city dwellers can get around. The benefits? Hard to quantify, but certainly better captured by those that enjoy the luxury rather than those that wise chose not to use it.
Wouldn't the users tend to demand better service if they actually paid to use the service, rather than expecting someone else to pay?
