CHAMPION NEWS
-- Direct Election of Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee Members: Republicans can reclaim a voice in their Illinois GOP at the Decatur Convention - Doug Ibendahl
http://www.championnews.net/article.php?sid=1017
(DIERSEN: A copy of a resolution calling for the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) to return to direct election of State Central Committee (SCC) members is included in this article. I have been a Republican Precinct Committeeman in the 6th Congressional District (CD) since 1999. Ron Smith, who represents the 6th CD on the IRP SCC, appointed me to serve on IRP's Platform and Resolutions Committee. During that committee's meeting this Friday at the IRP state convention in Decatur, I will ask the committee to send the aforesaid resolution to the floor of the full convention on Saturday for consideration by all of the delegates seated. If, sadly, the committee vote on the aforesaid resolution is not successful, I will ask the committee to send a resolution to the floor that calls for voting on the issue of returning to direct election of IRP SCC members, but without taking a position on the issue. My understanding is that IRP Chairman Andy McKenna wants the issue to be voted on by the full convention. I look forward to hearing Senator Chris Lauzen's presentation of arguments in favor of returning to direct election to the full convention.)

CBS2
-- "Illinois's chairman for McCain's presidential campaign says he believes as November approaches, more attention will be paid to Obama's past political record, and that voters might not be as impressed with Obama as the have been so far. "The American people need to really study up on these candidates, find out what they've done, what they stand for," said Western Springs State Rep. Jim Durkin (R-82nd). "I personally believe John McCain has the experience to hit the ground running. I don't think Barack does."

What about those who worked so hard to get Peter Fitzgerald to not run again?)

NAPERVILLE SUN
-- "One legislator remains doubtful that a capital bill can pass. State Sen. Randy Hultgren, R-Wheaton, voted for the bill but objected to paying for it by expanding gambling and leasing the Illinois lottery. After watching the highly publicized and frequent bickering between Blagojevich and Madigan, he doubts a capital bill will be passed until after one of the two leaves office. "It just seems like, realistically, the first time we'll have a chance to pass that is when one of those people is not a decision-maker," Hultgren said. "I'm just being very honest."

For the past four years Martin has pursued Obama relentlessly, with disclosures about Obama's religion, money laundering and other peccadilloes. Now all of Martin's columns are reprinted in one place with explosive new commentary and disclosures. Martin's book could easily be titled 'How Andy Martin beat the mainstream media on the biggest story of the new millennium.'
