Great debate on progressive income tax happening now: HJRCA 42

Mike Smith's proposal for a 6% tax on everyone who earns more than $250,000 in a year (instead of 3%) and cutting taxes on everyone else by raising the standard deduction by an extra $2000, as well as funding education and a capital bill is getting debate on the floor right now. Great, substantive debate.

It's HJRCA 42 and will be a big issue in the fall.

And ultimately, proof that our constitution that mandates a flat tax needs to be amended, either by the General Assembly putting an amendment on the ballot or through a constitutional convention.
