ll. state legislator pushing for an impeach Bush resolution

Crossposted on Marathon Pundit. This one is local.

State Rep. Karen Yarbrough of Maywood, Illinois, has too much time on her hands. Clearly she's not willing to fix a state budget that for years has been held together by tape and strings, Yarbrough thinks the Ill. State Legislature should start the process of impeaching President Bush.

From the Chicago Sun-Times:

To support her legislation, Yarbrough is relying on a provision from Jefferson's Manual, a procedural handbook written by Thomas Jefferson as a supplement to U.S. House rules.

Jefferson wrote that there are various methods of setting an impeachment in motion, including "charges transmitted from the legislature of a State."

Jefferson wrote a lot of stuff. Maybe too much, because his writings have inspired French Revolutionaries, as well as (link not safe for work) Neo-Nazis.

Jefferson was in France when the constitution was written, and his "Jefferson's Manual" isn't in the US constitution.

More from the Sun-Times:

It would be the first state legislature to pass such a resolution, though the measure faces a dim future in a Republican-controlled Congress.

"This is absolutely ridiculous," said John McGovern, a spokesman for U.S. House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). Only the U.S. House can formally initiate impeachment proceedings.

I did some research on Rep. Karen Yarbrough. According to her statehouse biography, she has an M.A. degree from Northeastern Illinois University's Center for Inner City Sudies. The center is a moonbat's heaven: Its director is Conrad Worrill, a longtime slavery reparations proponent and racebaiter. The last link is courtesy of the Nation of Islam's "The Final Call."

As for this Illinois impeachment resolution, well, consider the source of it. Then laugh.

Jefferson wrote so much stuff that can be interpreted many different ways.

He backed off it later, but he was in love with the French Revolution, even after its excesses became apparent.

Attacking Yarbrough by attacking someone associated with the state school where she went is utterly fucking stupid.

It shows that affirmative action for Right Wing morons is alive and well.

You should be emabarrassed for being associated with... you.

Carl:

You shouldn't be surprised; the right-wing nuts who post here are nothing but 21st century McCarthyites. Guilt by association is their stock in trade. This nonsense about "campus radicals" is just another version of the "liberal media" nonsense. This is the outgrowth of having control of all three branches of government and having the country go to to hell as a result.

Can't blame the stupid, short-sighted policies that cause the problems, so blame those evil liberals lurking around the universities. Or hell, just blame Jefferson and use some whacked hate group's misinterpretation of his writings as justification. They know if they yell their lies loud enough and long enough some people start believing it. That's another thing the "blame academia" crowd has in common with the "white power" nuts.

Grow up Carl. Are you really 38 years old? She attended a Masters' program in Conrad "Shakedown" Worrill's program.

She's a moonbat, and you're a jerk.

Marathon Pundit 10:33 PM

Yarby likely sought out "Reparations Worrill" program.

You Libs are taking the Jefferson stuff a bit too seriosly. Essentially what I said that, Jefferson wrote tons of stuff, some of it not contemparily acceptable, that can be interpreted or misinterpreted.

Oh, this is not Democrats Underground. Watch your language.

Let's hope Ruberry is equally as judgmental towards the people who seek out "moonbat" curriculums at Liberty, Bob Jones and all the other right-wing nut campuses. But that would require a bit of intellectual honesty, or at least a few brain cells, so I guess it won’t happen anytime soon.

Marathon Pundit 11:16 PM

I don't support those places, particularly Bob Jones U.

Interesting, you've come up with two "objectionable" schools. Virtually all the rest, Hillsdale. Rockford, Kenyon, and a few others being an exception, are dominated by Ward Churchill, "Bomber" Bill Ayers, and Noam Chomsky types.

If you think Hillsdale "(is) dominated by Ward Churchill, "Bomber" Bill Ayers, and Noam Chomsky types," you really are a liar or living in a parallel universe. I gave you the benefit of the doubt listing only two, figuring you wouldn't be so obnoxious to imply that that represented a thorough accounting; of course I should have known that a nut with an agenda would seize on that.

Let’s add to Liberty, Bob Jones and Hillsdale; Christendom, Grove City, Independent, Regent, Oral Roberts, BYU, NDU, and Patrick Henry, off the top of my head.

The point is, according to your post, anyone from these schools should be ignored having come from programs with a decided political bent. After all, we’re not supposed to take anyone seriously from Northeastern’s Center for Inner City Studies. That’s why you neo McCarthyites are so dangerous, you’d rather dismiss viewpoints by arguing guilt by association, than the merits of an issue.

Marathon Pundit 12:26 AM

Virtually all the rest, Hillsdale. Rockford, Kenyon, and a few others being an exception,

True, I should've said "exceptions."

Read the post.

Also, Liar...Liar...Liar, right out of Al Franken's playbook.

How much are you kicking in for slavery reparations?

Anonymous,  12:41 AM

Nice, call people liar's with nothing to back it up, just more guilt by association nonsense from a bottom-feeding liar…when I call you a liar I actually demonstrate what you’ve lied about. So, I'm Al Franken now because I point out the fact that you suggest dismissing an argument based on where a person attended college, lie about the political bent of various universities and generally can’t back up your ad hominine attacks.

I never brought up the reparation issue, but I will say that someone who believes they’re an appropriate remedy for four-hundred years of institutional racism shouldn’t be excluded from having an opinion about the morally bankrupt Bush administration.

Of course, you’re all for free speech as it pertains to the Brown Shirts at DePaul, but someone who calls for reparations for slavery is a “race-baiter,” and a liberal professor is a “moonbat.” You’re such a sad stereotype.

You're a brave person, anon. 12:41.

Have to stay one step ahead of the thought police storm troopers. Too bad you're too intellectually challenged to debate and are limited to attacks and name calling.

Marathon Pundit 9:53 AM

Jan Schakowsky, is that you?

Anonymous,  9:58 AM

Ruberry, Roy Cohn called, he want his schtick back.

Marathon Pundit 10:16 AM

Hi Jan. I forgot about the racebaiter comment, which I stand by. "Reparations" Worrill's "gimme" article was printed in that racist rag, The Final Call. It's put out by that racist group, the Nation of Islam.

Oh Jan. Do not pack clean underwear for hubby. The Feds give inmates their underwear.

Anonymous,  10:22 AM

As oppossed to your race baiting Brown Shirts over at DePaul. Amazing how you support white racists but point the finger at those "racists" over at the Final Call. You're just as bad as them, worse because you're dishonest about your hatreds.

As much as I don't like Jan, I'd rather be compared to her than a McCarthyite, race-baiting liar.

Marathon Pundit 11:10 AM

Man are you dense. DePaul is not a "race."

Marathon Pundit 11:18 AM

I win, you lose.

Godwin's Law (also Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies) is, in Internet culture, an adage originated in 1990 by Mike Godwin that states:

As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.[1]
There is a tradition in many Usenet newsgroups that once such a comparison is made the thread in which the comment was posted is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever debate was in progress.

It is considered poor form to raise arbitrarily such a comparison with the motive of ending the thread. There is a widely recognized codicil that any such deliberate invocation of Godwin's Law will be unsuccessful.

Although in one of its early forms Godwin's Law referred specifically to Usenet discussions[2], the law can be applied to any threaded online discussion: electronic mailing lists, message boards, and so on.

That's good. Rely on stupid internet talking points for racist whacko's rather than actually admit that your original point was as stupid and ill-informed as most of your points.

I never actually called you a Nazi, I called you what you are, a race-baiting liar. The Nazi wannabe's are the spray painting mopes calling themselves College Republicans at DePaul.

So no, by default I win because as a mouth-breathing troglodyte you don't have the capacity to say or write anything that you haven't cribbed from Horowitz or picked up on one of the white power sites you surf for Thomas Jefferson quotes.

Good night and good luck Joe.
