Giving Barack Obama His Due

Since I earlier reported the percentages given to church and charities by President George Bush and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, it seems only fitting that I do the same for U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The Sun-Times reports he and his wife Michelle earned $991,296 last year.

And, they gave $60,307 to charities, including $13,107 to the Congressional Black Caucus 501(c)(3) Foundation, $15,000 to CARE and $22,500 to his church, the Trinity United Church of Christ

The percentage of income given to church and charity?
6.1%.

    Something about donating money to the Congressional Black Caucus while being a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, strikes me as a business expense being passed off as a charity.

    Donations to the Congressional Black Caucus, 501(c)3 or not, in my mind is not a real charitable donation, even if they do some good. It is a political donation.

    Today's SUN TIMES articles by excellent investigative journalist Tim Novak on the slumlord properties of Tony Resko in Obama's district that Obama did nothing about and Obama's law firm represented and invested in.
    These were poor Black (not Hawaiian) residents of his District that had no heat and taxpayer dollars going to support Dan Mahru and Tony Resko in the politically connected development agency specializing in supposed low income, with taxpayer dollars, and a favorite of Mayor Daley.

    Obama did nothing for his District, he did nothing for Black people, and he will do nothing but be a tool for special interests as President.
