Year in Review

From chimp to blogger.

Or is this a commentary on the intelligent design debate? See McHenry County Blog New Year's Day for an appropriate Message of the Day. And, here's my year in review, with a link to Eric Zorn's compilation from bloggers of all political stripes. Posted by Picasa

    A Moline Christmas Carol

A good 2005 to close for the Chair of Moline Better City Gov
How he and his cronies justify new high taxes to their beloved?

Christmas holiday bah humbug says he
April surprise I gave to thee
That is gift enough to those yeah worship yea old Deere

Ah citizens of Moline where art thou be absent my wisdom say doth
With more boring pols yeah hold seats made of similar cloth

Have no tomorrow to worry just build build build
Nay a concern of money just invoice the guild
New shiny Library, Parking Ramp, High Police Command erect

Silent Mayor stands by as new taxes enact
Like a lost sheep with no shepherd signs what’s contract
Slumbers Hon Chairman - then awakened in dismay
Who dare enter my chambers to disturb me today?

Ghost of past Holiday have no fear
Ghost of present Holiday come ever near
Ghost of future Holiday stay nigh

And so Past Holiday sigh thy youth all away
Ne’er enjoyed yet broken hearted those days
Squandered youth lost on love come bitter
Harden this old man’s heart thee no longer a twitter

And now Present Holiday bah humbug err no spirit cares
Sugarplum sweetness gone yeah thy soul bares
Bitter spite onto thee all feel my power and treachery
Tax the poor; make them work those in power not share wretchery

And yeah Future Holiday no concern, I to go – yet live for today
The families of the YPN Generation to tax their payday
Young leaders under 40 soon to fear
Older wiser bill payers now learning in new years

Moline Holidays dead like my heart no more thrill; no flutter
But where is Pat O’Brien they often mutter?
Ahh replaced by another yet a Moline taxpayer still
O’Brien stays watching and waiting and will……
Oh future conclude need we a great leader to fill
And to bring back our Moline to common sense up and down each hill
